MapInfo Unveils MapinHand

Delivers Location-Based Enterprise Solutions on Oracle8i to Handheld Devices

MapInfo Corporation (Nasdaq:MAPS) today unveiled MapInfo(R) MapinHand, a business-to-business solution built on Oracle8i(TM) that enables organizations to supply field staff real-time access to critical, location-based data using handheld devices. MapinHand is the first in MapInfo's new family of wireless spatial solutions, which allows organizations to deliver enterprise solutions into the hands of field workers to improve decision making and customer care. MapInfo is demonstrating MapinHand at Telecom Business East (Booth #550).

"With MapinHand, companies can tap into the power of Oracle8i with the Oracle(R) Spatial option and use MapInfo's MapXtreme(R) Web software to give field staff on-the-move 'live' access to location-based data on customers and assets," said Mark Smith, vice president, server solutions, Oracle Corporation. "Using a PDA (Personal Digital Assistant), field staff can conveniently access up-to-date data, anytime, anywhere, to efficiently plan service installations, schedule equipment repairs and make customer calls."

    Pricing and Availability

MapInfo MapinHand will be available in September and will be priced based on the number of handheld client devices. Pricing includes installation, configuration, customer support and product maintenance. MapinHand runs on Palm OS and Windows CE platforms.
