Motorola Introduces Economical i550plus Multi-Service Digital Wireless Phone

Highly Functional, yet Affordable Multi-Service Phone With Two-Way Radio and Internet Capabilities

SCHAUMBURG, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 14, 2000--Motorola today announced the introduction of the i550plus™ multi-service digital wireless phone with Internet capabilities. This handset for the value-oriented user integrates the capabilities of a digital wireless phone, text pager and a two-way radio, for instant communication with one, or even hundreds of people, at the push of a button.

The upgradable i550plus mobile phone allows users to instantly access Internet-based information such as news, stock quotes, phone numbers, weather updates, travel information, scheduling calendar, two-way email and more with the built-in microbrowser.(1) Users can maintain a constant Internet connection through the phone's microbrowser. The new i550 plus handset has the ability to connect to handheld or notebook computers, allowing the handset to act as a wireless modem.

The handset features extended battery life and supports keypad lock, backlight timer, speakerphone, last 10 numbers sent/received, a missed call indicator and "plus dialing," which provides faster access for international calls.(2) The new i550plus phone has a compact and sleek design with a black and silver casing.

A full line of accessories will be available through authorized distributors to complement the i550plus phone, including data cables for portable and notebook computers, four charger options, a hands-free car adapter with a built in speaker and visor microphone, audio adapters and a variety of carrying cases.

iDEN networks are operational in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, Israel, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Peru, the Philippines, Singapore and the United States.
