SAP and Abaco Enter Cooperative Agreement for Mobile Computing

E-Business and Wireless Software Developer Leaders Join to Deliver Global Operational Standards for Mobile Business Applications

SAP AG (NYSE ADR:SAP), the leading provider of inter-enterprise software solutions, and Abaco PR Inc., the global leader for delivering the wireless enterprise, today announced an agreement whereby SAP will utilize Abaco's Varadero Wireless Framework as a preferred partner platform for providing middle-tier mobile business solutions to customers of SAP and mySAP.com(TM).

The agreement stems from a close working relationship between the two companies and promises to establish global operational standards for middle-tier applications through a proven set of solution modules and applications. SAP and Abaco have enjoyed a longstanding relationship, delivering mobile enterprise solutions for many of the Global 1,000 companies. Abaco will draw on its previous experiences with integrations of SAP(TM) and mySAP.com to build a library of application templates, laying the groundwork for the establishment of global operational standards for SAP and mySAP.com middle-tier mobile business solutions and supporting the SAP and mySAP.com Mobile Business initiatives to deliver leading end-to-end mobile solutions.

The middle-tier, defined as a server with application logic residing between mobile devices and business systems, enables bilateral communication between such devices and systems. Abaco's Varadero Wireless Framework supports mobile computing devices, from the latest generation to legacy, and provides a seamless integration of mission-critical information from mobile devices to the SAP and mySAP.com business systems and vice-versa in real time, mobilizing the work force and enabling workers to do business any time, anywhere. In previous joint customer projects, Abaco has successfully acted as implementation partner for SAPconsole, SAP's technology to provide mySAP.com functionality directly to mobile devices in logistic execution. Here, Abaco's Varadero Wireless Framework has proven to be a good enhancement to SAPconsole by extending its reach.

"The SAP-Abaco Cooperative Agreement for Mobile Computing leverages our companies' respective strengths and creates unprecedented opportunities for our customers," said Peter Zencke, member of the executive board of SAP AG. "Together, we are uniquely positioned to deliver global operational standards for the development of advanced e-business solutions to serve the mobile environment."

The viability of implementing global standards for mobile business solutions through Abaco's Varadero Wireless Framework is made possible because of its open architecture. The platform is based on a wireless framework and an ultra-thin client application server that empowers businesses to create, deploy and maintain robust mobile computing applications through a myriad of standard application development tools and languages, taking advantage of the power and flexibility of server-based computing and the ease and convenience of pervasive mobile computing devices.

"Abaco and SAP have enjoyed a great relationship for many years. We believe very strongly in SAP and in the power they bring to e-business. We are very excited SAP has chosen Abaco's Varadero Wireless Framework as a preferred partner platform for providing middle-tier mobile business solutions to their customers," said Fernando Alvarez, CEO of Abaco. "The partnership and mutual cooperation ensures customers of SAP and mySAP.com that they can continue to rely on Abaco to provide tightly integrated solutions that are current with SAP and mySAP.com standards."

The agreement supports the commitment of SAP and mySAP.com to the mobile workplace. The robust protocol and ultra-thin client architecture of Abaco's Varadero Wireless Framework platform provides the mobile user with the ability to acquire data-heavy and memory-intensive HTTP information from mySAP.com using mobile devices.

"With their expertise in the integration of mobile connectivity to SAP and in the development of data collection solutions like the Varadero Wireless Framework, it is understandable that SAP chose Abaco as a preferred partner platform for middle-tier mobile solutions in the mobile market niche," said Robert Peterson, senior vice president and CIO of OfficeMax Inc. "Abaco brings a powerful value proposition to its customers, and we are excited to see SAP recognize its excellence."

The joint development effort combines the extensive resources and experience of SAP in the e-business market with Abaco's wealth of knowledge in the integration of wireless enterprise systems. As a result of the agreement, customers of SAP and Abaco will enjoy closely integrated systems through the most advanced complementary solutions.

"Farmland Industries selected Abaco as its wireless connectivity provider more than three years ago," said Gary Markus, vice president of Logistics for Farmland Industries. "This endorsement by SAP reaffirms that our decision to choose Abaco was the right one. We are very excited about how this partnership ensures our ability to use Abaco for our SAP and mySAP.com connectivity solutions in the future."

"I am extremely pleased to see that SAP has selected Abaco as a preferred partner platform to provide middle-tier mobile solutions," said Larry Graham, global manager Automatic Identification Technologies and Distributive Computing, General Motors. "The strengthening of the Abaco and SAP partnership means that we can look forward to tightly integrated solutions through the most advanced technology."
