Expanding into international markets, Think Outside Inc. today announced availability of the German version of its award-winning Stowaway(TM) Portable Keyboard for the Handspring's Visor series. This marks Think Outside's entry into international markets and highlights the company's commitment to meeting the needs of its customers both domestically and overseas.
"The Stowaway German keyboard is the first of several language versions that Think Outside plans to offer," said Phil Baker, president and co-founder of Think Outside. "Expansion into European markets is a high priority for Think Outside and we're committed to providing foreign language support for all our platform offerings," added Baker.
"Local language support is a natural fit when trying to penetrate non-English speaking markets. The worldwide popularity of pen-enabled smart handheld devices is driving the demand for keyboard accessories, which will need to be localized in order to meet users' needs in markets like Europe and Asia," said Randy Giusto, vice president of mobile and desktop research at International Data Corp., a market research firm based in Framingham, MA.
The new Stowaway keyboard provides dedicated German character keys and is optimized for the German Palm Operating System. It also offers all of the standard Stowaway keyboard features, including shortcuts and combination keys for added functionality. Additional language versions of the Stowaway will follow shortly, including a Kanji version for the Asian marketplace.
This month, Think Outside launched the Stowaway keyboard for the Hewlett-Packard Jornada 540 series. Additional versions of the Stowaway keyboard will be available this year for Compaq's Pocket PC handheld and early next year for Sony and Casio.
Price and Availability
Targus Inc. is the exclusive worldwide distributor of the Stowaway keyboard for the Handspring Visor and Hewlett Packard Jornada 540 series handhelds. Available through Targus' U.S. and International channels under the name Targus(TM)Stowaway, the keyboard has a suggested retail price of $99.
