VastVideo and ActiveSky Team to Deliver Video to Palmtop Devices

VastVideo to Support Video Downloads to Active Sky-Enabled Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) via a Standard PC-linked Cradle

VastVideo, the leading business-to-business provider of Video Applications, Services and Technology, today announced that they are teaming with ActiveSky to deliver video downloads to personal digital assistants.

VastVideo will encode video to support ActiveSky's media player technology, enabling owners of devices using the Windows CE, Pocket PC, or Palm platforms to view any clip from VastVideo's comprehensive informational video library and make use of that information where it is most needed.

"Informational video might just be the `killer app' for handheld computing devices," said Nathan Leight, CEO of VastVideo. "Our focus on informational video content that provides answers to questions is ideally suited to PDA-based video applications. People use PDAs to gather and store information, not to entertain themselves. For example, instead of flying a technician to a job site to fix broken equipment, a trouble-shooting video clip could be downloaded from the manufacturer's Web site. We intend to give our users information exactly when and where they need it in the format that communicates best - video."

VastVideo edits videos into clips that deliver a complete message in less than three minutes. The clips provide information to Internet users aligned with the subject matter of the sites they visit. The video files are indexed to makes clips searchable by content and to enable precisely targeted advertising and e-commerce opportunities via VastVideo's proprietary Contextual Assignment System (CASTM) software.

"VastVideo is exactly the kind of content partner we like to work with," said Scott Marquardt, CEO of ActiveSky. "They have assembled a team with tremendous experience in both traditional and new media and they're strongly positioned to move into mobile and wireless applications. Additionally, VastVideo's informational content is one of the many applications that is well suited for ActiveSky. Their compelling video clips are short in length, but still tell a complete story - with a beginning, middle and end - making them ideal for downloading."

ActiveSky makes its Media Player technology available as free downloads from its Web site. The company's technology is specifically designed to enable rich media to be streamed and played on small handheld devices, allowing end users to experience high-quality animation, graphics, text and video on a variety of mobile-device platforms. The small footprint, low MIPS requirement and display flexibility allows for extreme portability.
