Wireless Knowledge and Sprint PCS Join Forces to Bring Mobile Data Access to Businesses

Wireless Knowledge is Key Wireless Application Partner For Sprint PCS Wireless Web for Business

Wireless Knowledge Inc., a Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq: MSFT) and QUALCOMM Inc. (Nasdaq: QCOM) company, and Sprint PCS, the nation's largest 100 percent digital, 100 percent PCS nationwide network, Wednesday announced an agreement to co-market Wireless Knowledge's Workstyle(TM) Server.

Sprint has chosen Wireless Knowledge as a key wireless application partner and will offer Workstyle Server as part of its Wireless Web for Business, also announced Wednesday.

The Workstyle Server resides on the corporate network enabling mobile workers using any Internet-ready Sprint PCS phone to stay connected to critical corporate information such as e-mail, calendar and contacts.

"Sprint PCS has been very successful in bringing the wireless Internet to the mainstream in the U.S.," said Eric V. Schultz, chairman and CEO of Wireless Knowledge. "Wireless Knowledge now offers an important complementary enterprise solution -- wireless corporate network access -- to the Sprint PCS service offering. Together, we are delivering ubiquitous corporate network mobility today."

Workstyle Server 3.0, announced in July 2000, gives mobile employees real-time, secure access to key corporate information such as Microsoft(R) Exchange e-mail, calendar and contacts via any wireless or wireline device equipped with a Web browser. With the industry's broadest device support, Workstyle Server offers wireless data access via a mobile phone, a personal data assistant (PDA), or even a Web TV in a hotel room.

"Sprint PCS now offers its corporate customers a competitive advantage with Wireless Knowledge's Workstyle Server," said Chuck Levine, chief sales and marketing officer of Sprint PCS. "Now mobile employees can stay current with customer e-mail, manage their schedules real-time, and make clear, informed decisions based on access to their corporate network via their Sprint PCS Internet-ready Phone."

For example, rather than relying on a paper calendar, or one that was synchronized hours earlier, users can get their current calendar, reflecting all of the most recent changes right from their Sprint PCS phone.

Sprint PCS and Wireless Knowledge have agreed to jointly market and sell Wireless Knowledge's products and services along with the supporting Sprint PCS Wireless Web for Business services. Sprint PCS business-to-business sales representatives across the United States will offer Workstyle Server and supporting Wireless Knowledge professional services to their enterprise customers. Two enterprise customers have already adopted the solution, Aventis Pharmaceuticals and Cox Communications.

"For Aventis, the combination of Wireless Knowledge's Workstyle Server and the Sprint PCS Wireless Web for Business enabled us to simply, securely and quickly mobilize our corporate network," said Andrea Westrich, Global Infrastructure Technologies, Aventis Pharmaceuticals. "The two companies offer one-stop shopping for Microsoft Exchange enterprises, with a corporate wireless access server combined with wireless Web access on Sprint PCS Phones."

In addition, Wireless Knowledge is a Premier Partner in the Sprint PCS Application Developer's Program. As part of this program, Wireless Knowledge's professional services team will assist Sprint PCS with development of Web-based applications that are wirelessly accessible over the Sprint PCS nationwide wireless data network.

Availability and Distribution

Workstyle Server will be available to businesses nationwide through Sprint PCS and directly from Wireless Knowledge beginning in September 2000.

Workstyle Server

Workstyle Server is a standalone, scalable server software that easily installs in the enterprise network to enable secure access to corporate data residing behind the firewall using wireless Internet-ready devices such as mobile phones and PDAs. Based on Internet-standard platforms, the server software offers secure, reliable, high-performance access to the wireless Intranet.

Once Workstyle Server is installed, additional enterprise-specific applications can be wirelessly enabled. Wireless Knowledge's professional services group is available to work with enterprise customers to wirelessly extend existing vertical and horizontal applications.

This Workstyle Server release includes support for wireless access to Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5-based e-mail, calendar and contacts. Workstyle Server supports a broad range of devices equipped with HDML, XML, WML and HTML microbrowsers including Microsoft Mobile Explorer, the dual mode HTML/WML microbrowser. Server administration features include online support tools to manage user accounts, security, database maintenance and account and server diagnostics. Administrative tools are available for both server administration and help desk personnel.
