In
the first deal of its kind, Digital Avenue (formerly eHolding), the wireless
applications company based in London, today announced a deal with the Norwegian
telecommunication company, NetCom GSM, to develop and provide wireless games to
the Norwegian market.
Digital Avenue has been testing a bundle
of its WAP games with NetCom GSM, and these games are now exclusively available
on NetCom’s WAP gateway. Digital Avenue is producing enhanced wireless games
for technologies beyond WAP as part of the year agreement.
“Norway experiences one of the highest mobile user and WAP handset penetration rates in the world,” said Digital Avenue CEO, Colin Bower. “We are in a primary position to gain significant and early insight into how people both use and pay for WAP applications and content in an environment where, until now, the WAP user experience is still considered as limited.”
“Our competitive advantage from having experienced global professionals working on this deal has resulted in Digital Avenue breaking new ground.”
NetCom’s Marketing Manager Portal, Carl Andre Helsvig, said, “Entertainment is believed to be the main VAS (value added services) revenue generator for operators in the future. In this perspective NetCom GSM is looking for partners which have the ability to develop the services and content that our customers demand. NetCom GSM is not just addressing the ’now’ of entertainment services, but looking towards the future of mass market entertainment options.
“We are delighted to provide our customer base with something fun they can use over their WAP handsets. This is just the beginning!”
Digital Avenue
is currently in negotiations with carriers across Asia Pacific and Europe to
provide content over WAP and third generation mobile technologies.
