fusionOne and Symbian Unveil Industry's First SyncML Implementation for the Symbian Platform at PCIA GlobalXchange

Underscores Companies' Commitment to Providing Seamless Interoperability Between Mobile Devices

fusionOne, the leading developer of next-generation Internet synchronization technology, and leading wireless platform provider, Symbian, today announced the industry's first public demonstration of SyncML support for the Symbian platform. The demonstration will take place this week in the Symbian booth at the PCIA GlobalXchange 2000 Conference in Chicago. Based on fusionOne synchronization technology and the SyncML standard for data synchronization, the fusionOne SyncML client for Symbian allows data entered into any Symbian-powered device to automatically be synchronized through the fusionOne service to a user's collection of devices and applications, including PCs, handheld devices, mobile phones, and web-based applications.

Ericsson, Motorola, Nokia, Panasonic, Psion, Sanyo and Sony are all developing Smartphones and Communicators based on Symbian's software platform. Symbian and fusionOne will be demonstrating the SyncML client for use on release 5 of the Symbian platform. The two companies are working closely to provide SyncML support for future Symbian software releases and will be making it available to all Symbian's licensees later this year.

"SyncML enables our vision of wireless devices seamlessly sharing information and synchronizing data using open industry standards," said Colly Myers, CEO, Symbian. "fusionOne not only shares this vision but also possesses the technical expertise to make it a reality. We are pleased to partner with them as the first provider of sync client technology for the Symbian platform and expect the two companies to continue to provide the industry with industry-leading technologies and services in the coming months."

"fusionOne's revolutionary sync architecture affords us the opportunity to seamlessly mediate between protocols, platforms and standards to provide instant and automatic synchronization from any device, any application, anywhere," said Rick Onyon, president and CEO of fusionOne. "We are excited to be partnering closely with a company of Symbian's caliber to bring this capability to the millions of future Symbian-powered devices, and we look forward to ongoing technology collaborations."
