GoAmerica and Sierra Wireless Team to Create Wireless Handheld Computer Solutions

New Solution Wirelessly Enables the Handspring(tm) Visor(tm)

GoAmerica, Inc. (Nasdaq:GOAM) and Sierra Wireless, Inc. (Nasdaq:SWIR)(TSE:SW.) today announced they will team up to provide wireless data and Internet access for the Handspring Visor handheld computer.

The wireless solution will combine GoAmerica's Go.Web(tm) service with the Handspring Visor, and a new wireless adapter developed by Sierra Wireless that will be designed specifically to interface with the Visor's "Springboard(tm)" slot. GoAmerica has entered into an initial supply agreement with Sierra Wireless for their new Springboard Adapter, with commercial deliveries expected to commence in the first quarter, 2001.

"The combination of the Sierra Wireless module for Springboard and the Go.Web technology will wirelessly enable the Visor for the AT&T Wireless and Verizon Wireless Networks," said Andrew Harries, Senior Vice President, Corporate Development at Sierra Wireless, Inc. "This product employs our proprietary Core Wireless Engine(tm) technology, delivering our proven performance and low power consumption in a very small package."

GoAmerica's Go.Web service for the Handspring Visor will allow businesses and individuals wireless access to their corporate intranet, POP3 email, and the Internet using the AT&T Wireless and Verizon Wireless Cellular Digital Packet Data (CDPD) networks. Go.Web's proprietary technology compresses and encrypts data and will optimize it for viewing on the Visor, providing a full, non-clipped Internet experience. Go.Web for the Visor will also support Microsoft(r) Word attachments that can be reviewed on the PDA. In addition, users will be able to customize Go.Web to suit their individual needs.

The Visor is an expandable handheld computer that is based on the popular Palm(tm) operating system. The Visor has one important difference: the Visor features an expansion slot on the back of the unit, allowing the user to swap different modules in and out of the product, turning the Visor into a variety of different products, including games, paging, MP3 player, GPS receiver, etc. This slot, called Springboard(tm), effectively allows the user to turn the Visor into a customized unit.

"The Handspring Visor continues to grow rapidly as a popular handheld computer," said Joe Korb, Executive Vice President of GoAmerica, Inc. "We're excited about extending our ongoing relationship with Sierra Wireless to enhance the reach of Go.Web and allow our customers to choose from a wider range of wireless options."

"We believe that an "always connected" wireless Springboard module is a compelling solution for Visor customers," said Ed Colligan, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Handspring. "The combination of the Sierra Wireless Springboard and Go America's Go.Web service will be a powerful solution for both business and personal applications."
