Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE:HWP) today announced a new alliance with 3Com, unveiling phase three of its wireless strategy and enabling it to offer customers simple Bluetooth wireless computing. The agreement will allow HP OmniBook and HP Pavilion notebook PC users to connect to a wide range of computing and telecommunications devices without the need to buy, carry or connect cables.

HP also unveiled its next-generation all-in-one notebook PC platform and HP Instant Support for notebook PCs, products that provide users with easy and reliable ways to stay connected to their customers, partners and critical data anytime, anywhere.

"HP's mobile computing and wireless strategy underscores our commitment to help make the Internet a pervasive tool that securely and reliably delivers increased productivity," said Hilary Glann, global mobile marketing manager for HP's Mobile Computing Division. "HP's success with notebook PCs reflects a growing recognition that HP is delivering products and services that help its customers thrive in the new e-business economy."

HP holds Associate status in the Bluetooth Special Interest Group, which is a driving development of the technology(1), and is actively working to ensure compatibility between multiple Bluetooth-enabled devices and between Bluetooth and 802.11b wireless devices. HP is a founding member of the Mobile Data Initiative (MDI) 3G, whose mission it is to make wireless Internet/Intranet access with mobile devices simple and as common as data over fixed wires.
