Mobilaris unveils the platform Pacific Ocean

- a pioneer solution for Mobile Internet and Location Based Services

Mobilaris today unveils their strategic mobile service platform for the wireless carrier market. The platform, named Pacific Ocean, is revolutionizing when it comes to creating mobile location-based services. The platform can be seen as a so-called middleware, bridging the complexity of the mobile network infrastructure with the demand for fast service development for the mobile Internet.

- Once the carrier takes the platform into use, all efforts can be focused on creating real value for the end user and concentrate on actual services and content. The rest is handled by the Pacific Ocean, which dramatically simplifies integration with O&M systems, says Amalendu Parasnis, Technical Director and co-founder of Mobilaris AB.

The Pacific Ocean supports an innovative “plug and play” structure. When the operator wants to offer a new mobile location-based service it can be launched in just a few weeks, instead of several months as before. The platform enables carriers to integrate content and location and launch location-based services at a pace not previously seen in the wireless world.

- There is currently an immense interest in our platform among the wireless operators. The platform is already optimised for 3G networks and handsets. In the long run this means that we’ll see many new mobile services and a more rapid service cycle in the future, says Björn Westerholm, CEO at Mobilaris AB.

Swedish operator Telia Mobile launched their service “Yellow Pages Near You” in the beginning of June. The service is the world’s first mass-market location-based mobile service. The “Yellow Pages Near You” allows Telia Mobiles customers to search the Yellow Pages for information with automatic positioning of the mobile telephone. The service and technology is based on Mobilaris platform Pacific Ocean.
