Neomar Delivers Customized Wireless Enterprise Applications and Content

Neomar Enterprise Content Server Enables Custom Views On Any PDA Over Any Wireless Network

Neomar, a leading provider of wireless infrastructure software for enterprises, today announced the Neomar Enterprise Content Server(TM), a wireless application server that enables enterprises to customize and control the enterprise applications and business content viewed by employees over wireless devices. By deploying the Neomar Enterprise Content Server, which is a component of Neomar's end-to-end wireless solution, companies can aggregate and prioritize wireless access to the most-relevant business content and critical enterprise applications by department or even by individuals within each department, increasing productivity company-wide and delivering business-critical content anytime, anywhere.

Neomar is demonstrating the product at DEMOMobile 2000, an event focused on the best new products and technologies designed to meet the needs of mobile professionals. Neomar was selected as one of 30 companies from over 400 applicants to showcase its product at the event being held in Pasadena, Calif. this week.

Today, many enterprises are beginning to deploy wireless applications to their employees and executives, either by developing these strategies in-house or in partnership with a systems or e-business integrator or specialized wireless applications providers. However, an enormous challenge exists in deploying the most-critical business applications and content to meet each employee's individual requirements and the variety of disparate wireless devices in use throughout these organizations. The Neomar Enterprise Content Server solves this problem by delivering customized views over multiple devices, including the Palm(TM), Handspring Visor(TM), BlackBerry(TM) from Research In Motion (Nasdaq:RIMM) and Motient eLink (Nasdaq:MTNT), using the industry-standard WAP (Wireless Applications Protocol) protocol.

As a component of Neomar's end-to-end wireless solution, the Enterprise Content Server works in concert with Neomar's microbrowser, which delivers the content to wireless devices using the WAP standard, and Neomar's WAP Gateway, which resides either on-site at the customer premises or off-site at a wireless ASP, retrieves WML content stored on an accessible Web server via standard URLs and delivers the content securely to wireless devices running the Neomar Microbrowser.

Neomar's Enterprise Content Server allows each department in a company, such as marketing or sales, to select and customize the applications and content most critical for their particular job function. For example, the sales department might want to view the customer relationship management (CRM) application, a salesforce automation application and latest sales figures, while the field service organization would see the customer support application, and the finance department would see the quarterly balance sheet and financial models. And because the Neomar Enterprise Content Server works with the existing wireless PDAs deployed throughout the company, employees still maintain their personal contact information, notes, and e-mails, while gaining the added benefit of wireless access to enterprise content. Managers can customize their applications and content by simply selecting the desired content and applications from a list on the Neomar Web site (www.neomar.com), which automatically propagates them to the devices by selecting the "Update Services" button on the Neomar browser.

"With the increased use of wireless devices in the enterprise, it is imperative that companies provide their employees secure, easy access to the applications and information they need to do their job, not just sports scores and weather forecasts," said Fred Chieux, senior vice president for Corporate and Business Development at Neomar. "Neomar's Enterprise Content Server provides enterprises, e-business and systems integrators and wireless applications providers a flexible and powerful solution for deploying meaningful enterprise applications and content to users of any PDA."

"With the Enterprise Content Server, Neomar has created a new standard for communication between corporations and their mobile workers by providing customizable wireless access to the enterprise's intranet," said Don Longueuil, wireless analyst at industry research firm The Yankee Group. "Today's announcement moves Neomar's end-to-end wireless solution from a 'nice to have' to 'need to have' for the leading-edge enterprise supporting a legion of wireless PDA users."

The Neomar End-to-End Wireless Solution

The Neomar Enterprise Content Server is a part of an end-to-end solution that includes the Neomar Microbrowser and Gateway. Through partnerships with wireless applications developers, and systems and e-commerce integrators, Neomar provides the most flexible and customizable wireless solution for enterprises available today. The Neomar Microbrowser delivers applications and content from partners specifically formatted for wireless devices using WML 1.1, the WAP equivalent of HTML. The microbrowser gives users a secure, easy way to access important information. Neomar's WAP Gateway, deployed behind a corporate firewall or off-site at a wireless ASP, retrieves WML content stored on an accessible Web server via standard URLs and delivers the content securely to the wireless device with the Neomar Microbrowser. The Neomar Gateway is the only WAP gateway which runs on the packet data networks used by wireless PDAs.
