NeoPoint Inc., a market leader in developing award-winning smartphones and smart information services, Thursday unveiled its new feature-rich next generation of smartphones at a wireless industry tradeshow in Chicago this week -- the NeoPoint(TM) 2000 and NeoPoint(TM) 2600 -- as well as the new NeoPad(TM) QWERTY keyboard.
The new dual-band and tri-mode smartphones combine the popular features of NeoPoint's first generation smartphones, plus increased capacity for PDA functions, advanced built-in e-mail capabilities, the added convenience of a NeoPad QWERTY keyboard for easy text input, games and more.
"We have built on the phenomenal success and consumer acceptance of our NeoPoint 1000 and NeoPoint 1600 smartphones, and have created two new smartphones that will truly enhance the lives of mobile professionals and consumers alike," said William Son, chairman, president and CEO of NeoPoint.
"By taking the highly acclaimed features from our first generation of smartphones, such as the PDA functions, and combining them with our new NeoPad for easier text input and our built-in SmartMail e-mail, we have developed two new smartphones that are sure to be a `must-have' for mobile professionals and consumers."
The cutting-edge NeoPoint 2000 and NeoPoint 2600 smartphones include several robust features including:
-- SmartMail(TM) -- This built-in e-mail software supports both
POP3 and IMAP4, enabling users to have the same e-mail address on their wireless phone as on their PC or laptop, which makes e-mail easier to monitor, compose offline and respond in a mobile environment. Additionally, SmartMail enables users to simply compose and forward e-mail messages by using the smartphone's built-in address book. -- NeoPad(TM) -- NeoPoint's own QWERTY keyboard, which is an optional accessory for the NeoPoint 2000 and NeoPoint 2600, makes text entry as simple as using a laptop keyboard. -- Dual-Band and Tri-Mode Capabilities -- The dual-band (1900 MHz CDMA/800 AMPS) NeoPoint 2000 and the tri-mode (800 MHz CDMA/1900 MHz CDMA/800 AMPS) NeoPoint 2600 smartphones provide enhanced coverage for users. -- Smaller Form Factor, More Memory and Longer Battery Life -- NeoPoint has made its newest smartphones even smaller and lighter, measuring 5.4" x 1.9" x 0.8", and weighing a mere 5.5 ounces, but still maintaining NeoPoint's trademark 11-line screen. NeoPoint also has built more memory into its new smartphones to accommodate their robust applications and large databases. -- The NeoPoint 2000 and NeoPoint 2600 integrated personal communications assistants hold more than 2000 contacts, schedule, task and personal note items, and can be easily synced with Microsoft Outlook(R), ACT!(TM), Lotus Organizer(R), Lotus Notes(R), Goldmine(R), and the built-in Personal Information Management Intellisync(R) Mobile Desktop via NeoPoint's SoftSync Plus software and cable. -- The NeoPoint 2000 and NeoPoint 2600 both offer T9(R), voicemail, text messages, and a 30-number call history that indicates missed calls for one-touch redialing. -- Both smartphones offer wireless Internet access, enabling users to easily obtain critical information such as the latest news, financial information, stock quotes and weather via the wireless Internet. -- Additional features of NeoPoint's latest smartphones include a world clock, calculator, hotkeys, customizable ringers, an alarm clock, vibration mode, and games to further enhance mobile consumers' lives. -- The NeoPoint 2000 will be available in fourth quarter 2000, with the NeoPoint 2600 slated for first quarter 2001.
