Nokia to Combine TANTAU Wireless Software with Nokia WAP Server

Combination of the Nokia WAP Server and TANTAU's Wireless Software enables enterprises to meet exploding number of mobile e-commerce customers

Nokia and TANTAU Software Inc., today announced a worldwide non-exclusive development and distribution agreement. Under the terms of the agreement, the integrated offering, which will be available in the 4th quarter of 2000, will be marketed, sold, and supported by Nokia and its certified resellers.

Nokia will integrate TANTAU's software in order to achieve a more scalable solution that allows enterprises to extend their online channels to the wireless world and into the hands of mobile users. This offering will be targeted at enterprises that require secure and reliable transaction environments such as financial services companies. The solution will be compliant with the latest Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) specifications.

"Online access methods for enterprises have gone far beyond traditional PCs, and now include portable and handheld devices including WAP enabled-handsets. This combined technology offering will create a state-of-the-art multi-channel delivery platform to enable mobile transactions, allowing direct access to the back-end systems. These features will be critical to the success of mobile e-commerce sites," noted Pertti Lounamaa, Vice President at Nokia Internet Communications. "Nokia is looking forward to working with TANTAU and leveraging their expertise and experience in high-end scalable solutions."

With numerous major financial services clients using the Nokia WAP Server - such as Deutsche Bank, MeritaNordBanken and SE Banken - Nokia provides the market-leading access platform for mobile users. In addition to award winning WAP server software, Nokia's WAP offering consists of the brand recognized Nokia 7100, 6100, and 9100 series WAP enabled handsets, industry leading WAP developer toolkit software, the Nokia WAP browser, and a globally recognized Nokia Developers Forum (www.forum.nokia.com).

"The integration of our technologies gives customers who have implemented the Nokia WAP Server, simple and seamless access to our massively scalable, extremely reliable, and secure platform," said John Sims, president and CEO of TANTAU.

TANTAU's Wireless Internet Platform, installed at over 35 financial services organizations including MeritaNordbanken, SE Banken, and the New Zealand Stock Exchange, is the first to allow enterprises to take full advantage of the mobile ecommerce revolution without sacrificing security, scalability, or a direct link to the customer. TANTAU's Wireless Internet Platform features multiple channel support; gateways for integration with back-end applications and data sources; and the ability to create personalized applications based on user preference.
