PHONE.COM SECURES GREATER FOOTHOLD IN SWISS MARKET

Phone.com, Inc. (Nasdaq:PHCM), a leading provider of Internet software, applications and services, today announced that Orange Communications S.A., Switzerland will be implementing the Phone.com™ UP.Link™ WAP Gateway to provide Internet access for its customers. Orange Communications S.A. is Phone.com's second customer in Switzerland.

The new Orange Communications S.A. wireless Internet service will be accessed through mobile phones equipped with a WAP-compatible microbrowser, such as the Phone.com UP.Browser® microbrowser. The combination of microbrowser technology and the Phone.com UP.Link WAP Gateway will allow Orange Communications S.A. customers real-time access to a wide variety of Internet-based content. Users will be able to send and receive emails, check stock prices, weather reports and even cinema listings anywhere and anytime through their mobile handsets.

The UP.Link Server Suite offers GSM network operators a complete WAP-based solution to enable their subscribers to gain access to Internet-based content and applications. The Phone.com UP.Link Server Suite is in its fourth generation, providing a scalable and robust implementation of the WAP protocol. Since 1997, Phone.com's solutions have been licensed to 77 network operators worldwide.
