PromiseMark Offers First Cell Phone, Pager, and PDA Wireless Computer Virus Alerts to Consumers/Small Businesses

The first new wireless service to provide early warning Internet security alerts to consumers and small businesses is now available through PromiseMark (www.promisemark.com) the country's only Internet and data related protection plan company.

PromiseMark has teamed with InphoMatch, a global wireless messaging company, to empower PromiseMark's customers to receive early warning information to their wireless devices. The PromiseMark wireless alert service is the first of its kind to provide consumers and small businesses with time-critical wireless notifications about potentially harmful computer virus attacks and Internet security threats.

PromiseMark's 500,000 customers can now be alerted on their cell phones, pagers or PDA's with a PromiseGuard 911Alert when information on a potentially harmful computer virus becomes available. The wireless 911Alerts will be delivered via text messaging (SMS) with the name and an identifying description of the virus or hacker threat. The alert system is free to PromiseGuard Virus Service Plan and Data Recovery Plan customers.

The Virus Plan provides preventive services and repairs computers damaged by viruses, while the Data Recovery Plan recovers lost data. Both plans also include preventive software, web and telephone technical support, access to an online Internet Protection Center 24 hours a day, and access to PromiseMark's 7,000+ local service repair center network. PromiseGuard plans are backed by leading security and data recovery corporations including Symantec and DriveSavers. The cost for the PromiseGuard Virus Service plan starts at $1.99 per month, while the Data Recovery Plan begins at $3.49 monthly.

Activation is easy. Current customers can add these alerts through the Internet Protection center at www.promisemark.com. New customers enter their cell phone and/or pager numbers during plan registration. The threat of computer viruses continues to increase but early detection is key to stopping their spread. The technology powered by InphoMatch, a wireless application service provider, has the potential of providing news on emerging security threats to the growing wireless text messaging devices market.

"We are excited about partnering with PromiseMark to provide time-critical information to their customers' wireless devices. PromiseMark has the vision that has put them ahead of the game and allowed them to be the first to offer wireless virus alerting," said Terry Hsiao, CEO of InphoMatch. "This is a perfect example of how today's wireless technology can be used to provide meaningful, time-critical information to customers and a profitable business model for a company like PromiseMark. Notifying plan holders through their cell phones, pagers and PDA's is a phenomenal enhancement to their services."

"Our messages will alert consumers and small businesses of potentially harmful computer viruses possibly waiting in their email," said Bernard Brenner, president and CEO of PromiseMark. "Computer viruses spread most rapidly when people are unaware they are at risk. This service will notify our customers BEFORE they put themselves in a position to be harmed. Clearly, users are safer if they receive a cell phone message telling them not to open emails titled 'I Love You' before they log on to their computer." Usage of wireless data services is forecasted to grow from 170 million subscribers worldwide in 2000 to more than 1.3 billion in 2004.
