Purple Software to showcase Java-based connected game play solutions for wireless devices at PCiA GlobalXchange 2000 in Chicago

Purple Software announced today that it is showcasing its Java connected game play solution for wireless devices at the most prestigious conference and exposition for the wireless and computing industries, PCiA GlobalXChange 2000. Purple’s solutions, based on classic strategy and board games such as Chess, Backgammon, Bridge and Checkers, are designed to provide wireless device users with the ability to play classic games over a wide choice of transports including IR, Bluetooth, email, WAP, SMS and GPRS. The game play solutions are being demonstrated on the Symbian platform - the first occasion that the company’s Java-based implementations of these solutions will be on public display.

Julian Swallow, CEO of Purple Software, commented: “Our heritage as an early developer of strategy games for handheld devices coupled with our experience as a provider of WAP browser technology for the Symbian platform provide us with a rare understanding of the key design requirements of wireless game play. A key objective in our technology design is that the often differing requirements of users, device manufacturers and carriers are encapsulated in a single value proposition.”

Colly Myers, CEO, Symbian, said “The mass market for Wireless Information Devices provides a huge opportunity for companies that are able to provide innovative and compelling interactive games for mobile users. With their experience in developing games and communications applications, Purple Software are ideally placed to demonstrate these capabilities on the Symbian platform. We’re pleased that they can join us a key partner on Symbian’s stand at PCiA GlobalXchange.”

Purple Software will make further significant product and partnership announcements at upcoming exhibitions and conferences.
