Siebel Systems and Nokia Team to Offer Wireless eBusiness Solutions

Siebel Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:SEBL), the world's leading provider of eBusiness application software, and Nokia (NYSE:NOK), a pioneer and world leader in the development of mobile Internet technology, today announced a worldwide strategic alliance to provide easy deployment of Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) solutions to corporate customers. The scope of the alliance includes worldwide joint marketing, collaborative selling, and the extensive development of mobile eBusiness applications.

Using the Nokia WAP Server, Siebel eBusiness Applications expand the possibilities for customers and partners of Siebel Systems to easily access and update enterprise information online with a WAP-enabled mobile device. Siebel Systems' customers are offered remote wireless access to a full suite of Siebel eBusiness Applications -- including Siebel Sales, Siebel Field Service, Siebel eSales, Siebel eService, Siebel eChannel, and Siebel Industry Applications. With Siebel eBusiness Applications running on Nokia's WAP Server, users also benefit from wireless security and authentication features that are designed to protect the confidentiality of sensitive customer information across all communication channels.

"Nokia's global strength and innovation in mobile communication infrastructure combined with Siebel eBusiness Applications enables complete end-to-end mobile eBusiness solutions for our customers," said Paul Wahl, president and chief operating officer for Siebel Systems. "The availability of Siebel eBusiness Applications on Nokia's industry-leading wireless platforms addresses customer demand for convenient and secure access to time-critical information that will significantly enhance productivity and overall customer satisfaction."

"Wireless eBusiness applications are central to both the success of WAP and to Nokia's vision of a Mobile Information Society," said T. Kent Elliot, senior vice president and general manager of Nokia Internet Communications. "By combining the market-leading Siebel eBusiness Applications with Nokia's wireless Internet solutions, companies now have access to reliable, scalable and secure mobile Internet eBusiness services. This highly optimized, integrated solution allows enterprises that require a mobile eBusiness solution to substantially increase customer satisfaction, significantly reduce implementation costs and risks, and provide rapid return on investment."

The agreement between the two companies encompasses joint development and solutions engineering, worldwide marketing, and field sales training. The companies will jointly package end-to-end mobile solutions for deploying, managing, and enhancing wireless implementations.

The two organizations will jointly market and sell their end-to-end mobile solutions through their worldwide sales, product marketing and professional services organizations, initially targeting Communications, Financial Services and Healthcare industries, as well as a range of technology-related companies.

The Nokia WAP Server is the world's most-recognized WAP-server for the corporate market, allowing mission-critical information from a Web site to be available on mobile devices. It connects WAP-enabled mobile handsets to content and services hosted by Web servers or any other Intranet or Internet server securely and cost-effectively.

Siebel Wireless allows consumers to more effectively communicate with suppliers and companies to effectively share customer information across multiple distribution channels. Siebel Wireless can be used by consumers as well as businesses to order products and services and to inquire about order status. Field sales and service professionals can update sales opportunities, review account information, access calendar and contact details, order parts, and respond to service requests in real time. In addition, Siebel Wireless enables companies to quickly deploy wireless-enabled Web sites for eCommerce, Partner Relationship Management, and Service.

Siebel Wireless has been tested with and currently supports Siebel eBusiness 2000 applications in combination with the Nokia WAP Server. Siebel Wireless is a generally available product option that is licensed separately from other Siebel eBusiness 2000 applications, with the following options currently available: Sales Wireless, Service Wireless, Financial Services Wireless, ePharma Wireless, eCommunications Wireless and eEnergy Wireless. Future versions of Siebel Wireless will support additional Siebel Industry Solutions and releases of Siebel eBusiness Applications.
