Software AG Inc. and Wireless Dimensions Team Up On Mobile-Venue WAP-Based Platform

Alliance Generates First Ever Wireless Web Application For Stadiums and Other Venues

Software AG Inc. and Wireless Dimensions Corporation have announced a strategic partnership under which WDC will incorporate Software AG's Tamino into its Mobile-Venue(TM) product suite. Tamino, the world's first native XML database, will form the basis of Mobile-Venue, a WAP-based platform for wireless gaming, trivia, contests, vending/concessions and merchandise sales at sports stadiums and other venues.

"With its integrated XML-based database management system, Tamino is the ideal product for building our Mobile-Venue products," said Scott Cote, chief technology officer, WDC. "Tamino provides the complete answer for our sports trivia database because it can store, manage and retrieve a wide range of hierarchical sports trivia. Other database systems cannot handle data as smoothly and effectively."

WDC's m-Trivia(TM), m-Quiz(TM) and m-SportsStats(TM) products utilize Tamino for managing the data associated with trivia contests, retrieving sporting statistics like a particular player's batting average, and handling other data-intensive activities at venues including sports stadiums, arenas and festivals. With Mobile-Venue, a football fan can check sports statistics, order a sandwich or team shirt, and participate in a sports quiz all from his seat at the stadium.

"We are extremely pleased to partner with Wireless Dimensions in opening up this exciting new market for wireless technology," said Mike Howard, North America Channels, Software AG, Inc. "Tamino is the perfect fit for Mobile-Venue products which clearly demand speed, efficiency and flexibility in data management."

Designed to operate with WAP-compatible devices, Mobile-Venue will be released in fourth quarter 2000 and will operate on all major wireless networks throughout the world. The WAP protocol is supported on a wide variety of handheld devices, including cellular/PCS telephones, palmtop computers and PDAs.
