The Weather Channel Provides Content for Palm Handheld Computers

Latest Agreement Delivers Weather Information to Palm VIIx Handheld Users

The Weather Channel, Inc., the world's leading provider of weather information through multiple media platforms, has been named as a weather provider for the Palm(TM) VIIx handheld computer. The agreement to bundle weather.com content on the Palm VIIx handheld is the latest between The Weather Channel(R) and Palm, Inc.

The weather.com application delivers The Weather Channel weather information and forecasts to consumers via their Palm handheld. Palm VIIx handheld users will automatically receive immediate access to The Weather Channel current weather conditions, seven-day forecasts, and weather headlines. The application also allows these users to get location-specific weather information through "My Weather " -- a wireless feature unique to the Palm VIIx handheld. This application identifies the customer's geographic location by the nearest cell tower and automatically presents the weather for that tower's zip code.

"The Weather Channel continues to be the leader in content delivery to wireless devices," said Debora Wilson, president and chief executive officer for weather.com, the official Web site of The Weather Channel. "As weather is one of the top five types of information that users request online, we are committed to maintaining relationships with key business partners, such as Palm, to deliver our weather content to customers whenever and wherever they need it."

"Most people, especially frequently travelers, depend on the weather," said Byron Connell, vice president, consumer markets group for Palm, Inc. "With weather.com's application available, users of the Palm VIIx handheld computer will have mobile access to a wide array of quality and up-to-date weather conditions and information."
