El Segundo, CA, [date] – Tornado Development, the leading provider of unified messaging (UM) technology, today announced that it will demonstrate the next step in wireless unified messaging (UM) solutions at the PCIA GlobalXChange show in Chicago, September 27th through 29th with the introduction of wireless video messaging. This latest announcement further illustrates the ease and speed that new services can be added to Tornado’s carrier-grade unified messaging platform, Tornado Messengerä .
Tornado Messenger is a carrier-grade UM engine designed for telcos, wireless service providers, Internet/application service providers (ISPs, ASPs) and network providers. Tornado Messenger gives end-users global access to all of their e-mail, voice mail, fax, pager – and now video messages – from the public switched telephone network (PSTN), Internet or wireless network. Users can access their messages with any device, including telephones, personal and laptop computers, e-mail clients, Web browsers, WAP-enabled phones, wireless pagers, and PDAs.
"We built Vidmail – a new message type – into Tornado Messenger in
less than 60 days and announced it last month. We’ve now brought the video
technology to a new breed of wireless devices. This reflects our platform’s
flexibility and adaptability to bring new features and services to market fast,
no matter the device. Tornado Messenger can support any new service or
technology and gives service providers first-mover advantages as they attack the
marketplace. We are proud to be showcasing our technical achievements in the UM
industry at PCIA
Global XChange," said Kevin Torf, Tornado Development’s Chairman and CTO.
At the PCIA show, Tornado will be demonstrating streaming video messaging, called Vidmail, to Pocket PC devices. The first real deployment of video messaging within a unified messaging platform, Vidmail enables end-users to record and send streaming audio/video messages to any e-mail address in the world. Vidmail messages are recorded in real-time with any PC-based camera and arrive in the recipient’s mailbox as a normal e-mail message, requiring no special client software for viewing.
Tornado Development delivers scalable unified messaging solutions to wireless service providers by integrating the best wireless technologies and applications into Tornado Messenger. By deploying Tornado Messenger, wireless providers deliver a unified messaging service supporting the entire range of mobile devices. Tornado Messenger’s advanced design and architecture provides unsurpassed scalability and manageability, enabling service providers to deliver UM to millions of subscribers at a low cost of ownership. With Tornado Messenger, service providers increase revenues, improve customer retention and develop new markets.
