AmikaNow! Deploys Market-Version of AmikaFreedom.com, the First Web-to-Wireless Email Notification + Highlighting Service

AmikaNow!, one of the first companies to provide intelligent content interpretation for wireless email management, today announced the market-version deployment of AmikaFreedom.com(TM), the first Web-to-wireless email notification service providing interpreted and shortened email content tailored for mobile devices.

AmikaFreedom.com delivers email highlights to wireless devices via the Web, enabling mobile or professional users to receive notification plus key content without having to log-in when away from their desktop.

"We are very excited by this latest release of AmikaFreedom.com because it allows any wireless user to move beyond simple notifications of email header information to actual useful email content on their wireless device," said Sue Abu-Hakima, founder and president/CEO of AmikaNow!. "Two advantages of this product are immediately clear: we can unclog the wireless networks and more importantly, save the end user time by delivering key content rather than lengthy emails."

AmikaFreedom.com works immediately after users sign on to the Web service, although users can determine what email highlights to receive or block by pre-selecting sender names and/or keywords or phrases as user preferences. The highlights are customized to meet the display size limitations of the end user's wireless device. At the product's core is the AmikaHighlighter(TM) technology, an embedded artificial intelligence engine that interprets any content to provide concise and condensed text to an end user.

IDC estimates that global Internet mail volume will increase more than fivefold over the next five years, from 5 billion in 1999 to approximately 26 billion by 2005, and by 2003 there will be 1 billion wireless Internet devices. AmikaNow! is developing email management products to assist mobile users with information overload, enabling them to make informed, efficient business decisions while on the move.

The next generation of AmikaFreedom.com is scheduled to be released in Q1 2001 and will feature MessageBack(TM) capabilities. MessageBack is being showcased at Internet World Fall 2000 in New York and will allow end-users to modify user preferences and delete or view complete email text on demand via their wireless device, be it a PCS phone, pager or PDA. AmikaFreedom.com is fully operational on Exodus to ensure a high level of reliability for end users.

Since November 1999, AmikaNow! has offered a desktop version of AmikaFreedom(TM) as a plug-in for Microsoft Outlook 98/2000. Desktop users are able to view message highlights in the AmikaKeyContent(TM) column in their Outlook Inbox Viewer, or have their email notification plus key highlights forwarded to any text-enabled wireless device.

AmikaNow!'s products are currently in trials with two U.S. partners. In addition, AmikaNow! is continuing joint-venture discussions with prospective ASP, portal and carrier partners on AmikaFreedom.com.

"Our technology bridges the gap between the Internet and wireless, providing enormous potential revenues for platform vendors and service providers that bundle our products," said Abu-Hakima.
