iMode in English – Right Here Right Now

The World's first English language based iMode Editor and emulator were released today by wapprofit. The unique product allows the Global Internet and Business Community to develop iMode sites within minutes of using the software and to preview what iMode looks like and how it can be used.

The product is aimed at a basic user and wapprofit will offer an extended product from 1 November that supports WAP and HDML.

There are currently two iMode compatible handsets available in Europe but this will grow quickly in 2001. wapprofit will be releasing further software over the next 4 months that will greatly enhance the ability of Western companies to adapt to this highly popular technology from Japan.

wapprofit currently supplies two channels of iMode content on Manchester United Football Club and Golf. The company is engaged in a first round of fundraising to allow it to develop Mobile Internet Tools and establish a Global sales and marketing function.

Technical Details The wapprofit iMode editor is an easy to use product for Windows 95/98, Windows NT and Windows 2000 systems. It simplifies the development of iMode pages and sites. It supports the insertion of special iMode tags, auto-creation of iMode menus with phone access keys cross-referenced and enhanced display properties. It also has a preview, which emulates the performance of an iMode handset. This allows designers to see an approximate version of how their site will look on an iMode handset.

The program allows opening and editing iMode files, or creating new files from the simple template. More than one file can be open simultaneously.

Users can use the preview and phone key feature to link to files in the same local directory.The current version of iMode Editor 1.0 is free to download and use. An enhanced version integrated with our WAP and HDML products will be available for purchase from 1 November 2000.
