Informal Software Announces enotate Software for the PocketPC

Innovative PC Application Enables Popular Stylus-Based Device to Become the PC's 'Fourth Peripheral'

Informal Software(TM), Inc., today announced that its award-winning PC application, enotate(TM) software, will now support the PocketPC, an increasingly popular handheld computing device. Informal Software initially developed enotate for the family of Palm connected organizers and other Palm OS devices including the IBM WorkPad and TRG Pro, and now intends to develop a version of enotate that supports the new Microsoft PocketPC-based handheld computers, including the Compaq iPAQ H3630 and the HP Jornada 540 series. Like Palm users, PocketPC users will be able to enjoy the benefits of enotate, an application that saves businesses and individuals both time and money, and makes PC computing a much more natural and intuitive experience. enotate is a PC application that optimizes handheld devices whether being used at home or at work, transforming them into the ideal "fourth peripheral" for the PC.

Informal Software's enotate for the PocketPC specifically enables free-hand sketching/drawing and annotating or marking-up of Word 97/2000, PowerPoint 97/2000, and Excel 2000 documents, as well as digital images in common formats such as JPEG, BMP, TIFF and PCX. enotate for the PocketPC will be available in early 2001 from www.informal.com for $69.95. Prior to the official release of enotate for the PocketPC, Informal Software will preview this new product at the Microsoft Partner Pavilion at COMDEX/Fall in November 2000.

"We are committed to delivering innovative software solutions to users regardless of platform, application or device and support of the PocketPC is the next logical step in the evolution of enotate," said Informal Software President Ian Cullimore. "We believe this device has tremendous market potential and with the added functionality provided by enotate, PocketPC users will gain an indispensable computing tool."

enotate Expands the Functionality of the PocketPC

By incorporating writing into everyday computing, Informal Software has simplified communication and collaboration by making the process 100 percent electronic. enotate software essentially turns the PocketPC into the electronic equivalent of "pen and paper," enabling it to become a real-time, direct extension to the PC. Informal Software's enotate is not another attempt at pen computing or handwriting recognition, but instead enables actual electronic writing that is compatible with existing PC applications including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

The PocketPC devices are the newest handheld computers based on Microsoft's Windows CE operating system. They give users a broad range of capabilities to keep them organized and connected, including the ability to access email and specific attachments, the Internet, and manage contacts and schedules. Informal Software's enotate adds a new element of functionality to the PocketPC that provides users with a means to simplify communication and increase productivity, whether at home or at work.
