MyPersonal.com Deploys Version 3.0 of Its Branded Portal Application Platform

Delivering Wireless Capabilities, Personalization and Speed-to-Market Advantages

MyPersonal's VP of Engineering Ray Valdes, Formerly With Gartner Group, Anticipates the Future of Wireless in the Platform Design

MyPersonal.com, Inc. unveiled Version 3.0 of its patent-pending platform, offering clients the rapid development of a portal with modern personalization features, enhanced wireless capabilities and the ability to support diverse branding requirements.

MyPersonal, the leading provider of branded online solutions and technologies for businesses and shared interest groups, offers clients the rapid construction of a branded portal that provides end-users a high-level of personalization. MyPersonal's platform enables users to personalize their portal from the home page and automatically transfers relevant user preferences to multiple kinds of handheld devices. In contrast, many sites transfer only existing content and presentation, without any personalization, to a new delivery device, or they require the end-user to re-enter their personalization information on that new device.

MyPersonal's Vice President of Engineering Ray Valdes has expressed his concern, however, that currently fashionable wireless protocols, such as WAP, will not be the ones that succeed over the long-term. (WebTechniques Magazine, "Waiting on WAP," November, 2000) As a result, Version 3.0 was built to accommodate both current and future protocols in the wireless arena.

"MyPersonal offers customers a competitive advantage by anticipating the need for rapid implementation of wireless connectivity to cell phones, PDAs and other small form factor devices now and in the future," said Valdes, a former research director in Gartner Group's Internet Strategies service.

MyPersonal began testing its platform in early March and, after more than five months of QA and refinement, began mass deployment in August. MyPersonal has more than 100 clients that it plans to upgrade, at no cost, to the new platform by the end of October. MyPersonal will roll out the wireless capabilities in the new platform over the next few months.

The first organization to use the new platform was Washington State University, http://cougarstart.org. "MyPersonal's platform enables us to offer a portal that seamlessly blends our content with features and services from premier providers," said Brian Bates, Washington State University's membership manager. "Our alumni have given us positive feedback about the interface, which gives them the ability to personalize features and open or close modules without having to go to a secondary personalization page. This ease of personalization has resulted in greater use by our graduates."

The compelling features of the portal and its seamless integration with the client's content and outreach efforts serve to enhance the brand loyalty that customers feel towards the client. The daily interaction that is encouraged through the portal also opens up additional online revenues.

"We take the time to work with a client to design and create a branded portal that meets their specifications and unique needs," said MyPersonal's CEO and President, Douglas Fish. "Rather than having to sacrifice speed or integration for personalization, the flexibility of the streamlined platform enables us to provide our clients with all three. Plus, we offer value-added services, such as marketing programs designed to attract and retain customers, to provide clients with a total portal solution."
