Net2Wireless Joins Lucent Technologies' Mobile Internet Affiliates Program

The 3Gate Platform To Be Available Via Lucent's Global Operator Sales Channels

Lucent Technologies (NYSE:LU) today announced that Net2wireless Corporation has joined its Mobile Internet affiliates program under which Net2Wireless' 3Gate(TM) Platform -- an innovative solution to enhance the performance of multimedia content on mobile devices --will be offered to global mobile service providers. The announcement was made at UMTS 2000 -- a wireless industry forum -- in Barcelona, Spain.

As an affiliate of Lucent's Mobile Internet Cooperative Innovationssm Program, Net2Wireless will complement Lucent's experience and knowledge to offer mobile operators worldwide an integrated platform solution for both current and next-generation networks to support data-intensive content distribution, including streaming video applications from the Internet.

"Net2Wireless has a ready-made technology which enables our carrier customers to immediately introduce third generation Mobile Internet experience in a second generation mobile network," said Stacey Gelman, vice president of Lucent's Mobile Internet business. "The 3Gate Platform and Net2Wireless' advanced compression techniques and other innovations complement our strategy of preserving our customers' investments. It enhances data performance in today's mobile networks, and promises to evolve as we upgrade our networks with next generation packet and wideband radio capabilities for third generation (3G) services."
