Northstream delivers unique GPRS software to Vodafone and SmarTone

Northstream AB has developed a product, which will radically simplify the use of GPRS for corporate users. Vodafone UK and SmarTone will be testing the solution on their GPRS networks during their field trial programs.

The product, Northstream Wireless Login, makes it possible for the professional mobile user to access corporate LAN's via GPRS and 3G. Wireless Login enables secure connection to a company's LAN/intranet via GPRS networks which will be launched by mobile operators all over the world.

"Whenever we have presented Wireless Login to GPRS operators, we have received tremendous feedback. They particularly appreciate the fact that, in line with our primary goal, the new software dramatically simplifies the use of GPRS. One of the greatest obstacles to widespread use of GPRS can now be eliminated and we think this will stimulate the entire industry," says, Jörgen Lantto, head of Northstream Wireless Innovations and one of the company's founders.

Vodafone in the UK will initially offer its corporate clients Wireless Login as part of GPRS field trials, and may extend this to its customers when they have launched their GPRS network. SmarTone in Hong Kong will also use Wireless Login for GPRS field trials during the autumn, and has in addition ordered Wireless Login as part of the commercial GPRS operation upon completion of the field trials.

"Besides our Strategic Advisory Services core business we are now also launching our product development arm "Wireless Innovations". We are very proud to deliver our first product to two of the world's leading operators" comments Bengt Nordström, Northstream's President.
