Vignette Joins Oracle Wireless Partner Initiative to Deliver Comprehensive Wireless Solution

Wireless Customers Will Benefit From Mobile Internet Applications

Vignette Corp. (Nasdaq:VIGN), the leading supplier of e-business applications, today announced that it has joined the Oracle(R) (Nasdaq:ORCL) Wireless Partner Initiative. Vignette's (R) V/5 Content Management Server(TM) and its V/5 Lifecycle Personalization Server(TM) will be integrated with Oracle-9i(TM) Application Server Wireless Edition to provide a comprehensive wireless portal solution. These platform solutions from Vignette provide robust functionality for content management and state-of-the-art personalization capability.

"Oracle9i Application Server Wireless Edition is powering the development and use of wireless Internet applications and we believe many customers will take advantage of Vignette's strong content management and personalization capabilities."

Oracle-9i AS Wireless Edition allows telcos and enterprises to provide new and existing Internet applications or content for any wireless-enabled device including: smart phones, pagers, PDAs and handheld computers. When implemented with Oracle-9i AS' Wireless Edition, Vignette's V/5 Content Management Server will manage Web content for wireless services with a high level of flexibility and scalability. The Vignette V/5 Personalization Server offers sophisticated features that enable businesses to provide highly personalized services to their wireless customers. This subscriber specific customization will offer both explicit, user-selected personalization and implicit user behavior-based personalization functionality across all wireless applications.

Oracle recently launched its Oracle Wireless Partner Initiative to assist independent software vendors (ISVs), application service providers (ASPs) and system integrators (SIs) deploy wireless portals and Internet applications and services. Oracle's wireless Internet software includes its market-leading Oracle9i Application Server Wireless Edition and a set of wireless development tools. The new initiative is part of the Oracle Partner Program.
