America First Credit Union Takes Wireless Leap

Partners With Senscom to Launch Hand-Held Banking

America First Credit Union announced today that it is launching wireless financial services for its members in partnership with SensCom, Inc., a wireless application service provider (ASP). America First is the first financial institution in Utah to allow members to access their accounts, transfer funds, and pay bills from web-enabled wireless communication devices.

Awareness of the rapid increase in wireless usage prompted technology-savvy America First to explore methods of providing wireless financial services. In addition, the credit union believes this is an opportunity to enhance member-service and its reputation as Utah's premier provider of online financial services.

America First's executive vice president Brent Allen said, "The demand for wireless financial services is real and growing, and SensCom's Hand-Held Banking(SM) gives us another avenue to keep in touch with our members."

San Diego-based SensCom, Inc., a leading wireless ASP specializing in financial services, will provide America First with Hand-Held Banking(SM), a comprehensive solution that includes the planning, implementation and marketing of gateway services enabling secure wireless Internet banking transactions. With Hand-Held Banking, a financial institution can offer full wireless Internet services in four to six weeks, from initial planning to launch.

America First Credit Union has been a leader at implementing new technologies for improving remote delivery of financial services to its membership. With its wireless launch, it joins only a handful of financial institutions nationwide that currently offer wireless banking to their customers. The expectation, however, is that wireless financial services will become widespread over the next several years. With two-thirds of U.S. households already using wireless devices, forecasters predict that by the end of 2002 there will be more wireless subscribers capable of Internet access than PC Internet users.

SensCom became the first wireless ASP to launch mobile banking in April 2000. Since then it has maintained a leadership position in wireless banking, and is the application provider for nearly half of the financial institutions currently providing wireless access to their customers through the cost-effective ASP approach.

"SensCom was a great choice for us," said Rich Syme, vice president E-Services. "They understood our needs as a financial institution and made sure those needs were satisfied in the process of wireless implementation."

"America First is an institution that understands the future of financial services and is ready to go there today," stated Tarek Fouad, SensCom CEO. "We're excited to partner with them and pleased with the efficiency of their wireless launch."
