C Technologies Offers Wireless Fax and E-mail Connection Through New C-Pen 800

C Technologies AB (C Tech), the leading developer of handheld input devices based on advanced imaging technology, is introducing the next generation of C-Pen at Comdex 2000. C-Pen 800 serves as the ultimate wireless companion offering the new C Message feature for GSM phones that enables fax, SMS (Short Message Services) and SMS e-mail capabilities. C-Pen 800 also offers Palm(TM) compatibility; further expanding C-Pen's functionality by synchronizing the transfer of data.

C-Pen 800's new and enhanced features mark a significant upgrade from both C-Pen 200 and 600. They include: C Calendar, a multi-functional planner; an auto-trigger text scanner; a built-in rechargeable NiMH battery; alarm function; expanded storage for up to 3,000 pages of printed text and 1,000 addresses, plus a sharper six-line display in a signature metallic silver pen-shaped device.

"C-Pen 800 is the ideal computing companion for today's mobile environment," said Mats Lindoff, President of C Technologies. "People are always on the go and C-Pen 800 provides them with a single, handheld device that fits all their mobile computing needs."

As the ultimate mobile companion, C-Pen 800 enables users to read, write, translate, store, transfer, email and fax information. C-Pen 800 weighs just three ounces, and remains the perfect tool for gathering and disseminating information anywhere at anytime.

Simply by moving C-Pen over printed text, as if highlighting, the information is scanned through an integrated digital camera. The scanned images are then transformed into computer-readable text by an Optical Character Recognition (OCR) system, which stores the information as an editable text file in C-Pen, which can then be transferred cordlessly to a Windows 95/98, NT/Windows 2000-based PC, or Palm via a built-in infrared port. C-Pen 800 can be calibrated for left-handed or right-handed use.

C-Pen's Technology

Its advanced high-speed computer combines digital camera technology with an Intel StrongArm-processor. C-Pen 800 comes equipped with 8 MB of flash memory, capable of storing approximately 3,000 pages of text. C-Pen reads and collects printed text (sizes 5 to 22 points) at approximately 100 characters per second. C-Pen's technology includes neural network-based Optical Character Recognition, which enables C-Pen's software to learn to recognize letters. C-Pen's "C Write" capability allows users to use the device as a normal writing instrument.

C Tech has developed a proprietary operating system for C-Pen, designed to combine images and image processing. The operating system is compatible with Windows 95/98, NT/Windows 2000, or Palm. C Tech now has an open operating system, making it possible for third parties to develop and run application software.
