Centura Successfully Went Live at WEB2000 with Mobile Enterprise Solution on Palm Handhelds

Deployment of Wirelessly Enabled Palm Vx Handhelds Provides Secure Access to Dynamic Conference Information in Real Time

Centura Software Corp. (Nasdaq:CNTR), a leading global provider of solutions that mobilize the enterprise, announced today the successful deployment of over 350 wirelessly enabled Palm(TM) Vx handheld computers, preloaded with a custom mobile application based on eSNAPP, Centura's Mobile Application Server. The handhelds were distributed yesterday at WEB2000, providing show attendees with real-time access to conference course and event schedules, notification of updates, browser-based email, breaking industry news, and a unique matchmaker service enabling attendees to locate others with similar interests.

"We're pleased attendees of WEB2000 have the opportunity to use Palm handhelds to access enterprise data and show information on the go," said Christy Wyatt, director of strategic alliance and market development at Palm, Inc.

The custom software application is the result of collaboration among several industry leaders. Centura Software, which designed the solution and provided its eSNAPP technology, teamed with Handango, a handheld and wireless computing solutions provider. In addition to supplying the handhelds, Handango is managing the applications, deploying the project, and supplying on-site support. Additionally, Novatel provided its Minstrel V wireless modem for the Palm Vx handhelds. Conference attendees can sign up online for the product using a credit card as a security deposit, and at the end of the conference, they may either buy the Palm Vx handheld and Novatel Minstrel V wireless modem or upload the information gathered during the show for later access.

"I'm familiar with the world of PCs and Macs, but this is my first time using an enterprise solution like the one Centura has created on a Palm handheld. It is very impressive that the solution provides up to the minute information about all the different sessions and events going on at the show," said WEB2000 attendee Cory Josephs, web developer at the National Marrow Donor Program. "Experiencing the power behind this application has led me to start thinking about how my company might benefit from using similar technologies in the future."

"Developing the WEB2000 Mobile Application was our chance to cut through the hype for attendees by allowing them to demo firsthand this cutting edge mobile technology," said Bridget Hart, WEB2000 Show Director. "Working together with Centura and Handango to develop and deploy the WEB2000 Mobile application on Palm handhelds has created a unique opportunity for attendees to participate in a real life case study."

"We have quite a strong presence at WEB2000 because it has offered us an ideal means of reaching a wide audience of developers who are interested in the next wave of mobile computing," said Scott Broomfield, Chairman and CEO of Centura Software. "Working with leaders in the handheld space validates our position in the mobile enterprise market."

At WEB2000, Centura is introducing attendees to the variety of solutions designed to empower the mobile workforce. The technology potential behind the mobile application used at WEB2000 is being demonstrated at Centura's booth (No. 514) where attendees can also view Centura's Mobile Sales Force Automation solutions, offering secure access to enterprise data using Palm Powered(TM) handhelds. At Centura's theater, Palm representative Gordon Clyne will address the importance of security when accessing enterprise information from Palm handhelds in a presentation entitled "Myths and Legends of Palm and Handheld Security."

Also at the show, Centura will conduct the following technical sessions:

-- "Creating Enterprise Connections to the Mobile Internet: The Centura eSNAPP Solution" Chuck Stevenson, Director of Consulting, Centura Solutions Thursday, November 2nd, 1:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m., Room 53

-- "Mobilizing the Enterprise: Extending Applications to the Web and Beyond"
