CompuCom and ThinAirApps Join Forces to Deliver Wireless Solutions to the Enterprise Market

CompuCom Mobile Business Infrastructure Services and ThinAirApps' Wireless Email Software to Make Wireless Solution Accessible to Any Enterprise

CompuCom Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:CMPC), a leading digital infrastructure solutions provider, announced an alliance with ThinAirApps, a pioneer in the development of wireless Internet software applications and tools, to deliver wireless solutions to Fortune 1000 and high growth companies.

The two companies, both part of the Safeguard Scientifics (NYSE:SFE) partner network, combine their respective expertise in mobile business and mobile computing applications deployment to offer an easy path to execute an enterprise-wide wireless data access strategy.

CompuCom is providing advanced systems integration services, onsite installation and support for ThinAirApps' ThinAir Server software enabling on-the-go, around-the-clock access to enterprise groupware systems data. Leveraging its Advanced Integration Center, CompuCom is also providing mass-customization of Palm and Pocket PC handhelds including preloading the ThinAir Groupware Access application.

Using ThinAir Server, employees get secure, real-time access to messaging, calendaring, and other information from groupware systems such as Microsoft Exchange Server(R) and Lotus(R) Domino Server or any IMAP or POP mail system from any popular wireless, handheld or Internet-ready mobile phone.

"Our experience shows that there is significant interest among enterprises to provide mobile professionals wireless access to key corporate data. With e-mail being the first application people want to wirelessly enable, some organizations aren't sure what is involved," stated Jonathan Oakes, Chief Executive Officer, ThinAirApps. "Our alliance with CompuCom will make it easy for companies to quickly deploy a wireless e-mail solution supporting whatever devices they wish to deploy. With CompuCom's reach into the market, we look forward to many more businesses enjoying the power and efficiencies that our wireless application provides."

"There is no doubt that mobile messaging is a driving force behind the convergence of business and PDA devices," says Ed Coleman, CompuCom's Chief Executive Officer. "Our experience in developing enterprise messaging solutions for our clients, and our focus on extending the enterprise through mobile business infrastructure solutions are a great combination. Joining forces with ThinAirApps makes it simpler for our enterprise clients to deliver business-critical information, particularly email, to their employees with minimal location or device restrictions."

"A key advantage for Safeguard partner companies is their ability to leverage our vast network of resources," said Harry Wallaesa, President and COO, Safeguard Scientifics. "We are excited for both ThinAirApps and CompuCom as they make wireless solutions accessible to the enterprise marketplace."
