USi Announces Strategic Alliance With Aether Systems to Deliver Wireless Application Services to the Enterprise Market

Industry Pioneers Join Forces on Next Generation Application Services; Aether Invests $10M in USi

USinternetworking, Inc. (USi, Nasdaq: USIX), the leading Application Service Provider, today announced a strategic alliance with Aether Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: AETH), the leading provider of wireless data products and services, to jointly develop and deliver wireless-enabled managed application services to the enterprise market. In addition, Aether will make a $10 million equity investment in USi as part of a strategic round of funding that also includes an investment from Microsoft Corp. The funding will be used to support the ongoing growth of USi.

The first joint offering - anytime wireless e-mail and messaging services for Microsoft Exchange via Blackberry(TM) by Aether service -is available immediately. This service includes solution planning, application service provisioning, wireless connectivity, device fulfillment and customer support. USi and Aether also plan to roll out wireless-enabled web and e-commerce application services in the next sixty days, in addition to other wireless-enabled enterprise applications next year.
