Bluetooth Special Interest Group Certifies Bluetooth Protocol Stack from Stonestreet One

Stonestreet One, a leading provider of Bluetooth products and application development services, announced today that the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) has placed Stonestreet One's Bluetooth Protocol Stack on the Bluetooth Qualified Product List (BQPL). Placement of its Bluetooth Protocol Stack on the BQPL ensures that Stonestreet One's stack is in strict compliance with Bluetooth interoperability standards.

The Windows (WIN32) based Bluetooth Protocol Stack by Stonestreet One supports multiple Bluetooth devices over installed USB and serial ports. Bluetooth functionality is exposed through the API categories of HCI, L2CAP, SDP, GAP, and SCO. The Bluetooth Protocol Stack is available in fully documented source code or as binary-only version. Future versions will support additional platforms such as Windows CE, Palm, VxWorks, PSOS, and others.

"The motivation for the development of our Bluetooth Protocol Stack stemmed from the desire to have a quality stack that we could utilize in our own development efforts for our customers," said Tim Reilly, founder and CTO of Stonestreet One. "Formal certification allows us to offer a BQPL Qualified stack to assist current and future customers in their Bluetooth development projects."

"To make sure a product meets the requirements for qualification of a Bluetooth wireless product, CETECOM, acting as both a test facility (Bluetooth Qualification Test Facility (BQTF) under assessment) and a Bluetooth Qualification Body (BQB), we must administer a complex test," said Fernando E. Hardasmal, CEO of CETECOM, INC. "It is a big and complex process for both CETECOM and our customers to get through the qualification process. We are pleased to have been involved in the successful qualification of Stonestreet One's Protocol Stack and congratulate them on this achievement."

Bluetooth wireless technology enables a virtually unlimited number of devices to communicate seamlessly without wires. Its global specifications have been designed to offer a low cost, low power, small form factor wireless solution up to 10-100 meters for voice and data transmission. Stonestreet One, an early adopter of the Bluetooth SIG, offers turnkey Bluetooth application development services and developer tools, which includes its Bluetooth Protocol Stack. Stonestreet One was recently recognized as an Associate Member of the Bluetooth SIG, joining a select group of other early adopters involved in furthering the development of the Bluetooth specification.
