ClickServices' Mobile Application Server Brings Advanced Wireless Capabilities to Web and e-Business Applications

Infrastructure Product Enables Rapid Development and Deployment of Highly Scalable Wireless Solutions

ClickServices, the global infrastructure technology leader for wireless Internet, intranet and extranet solutions, today introduced the ClickServices Mobile Application Server, an advanced deployment and management framework for high-availability wireless Web and e-business applications. With ClickServices' Mobile Application Server, wireless developers can now rapidly build applications or extend existing applications on a massive scale without any wireless expertise. ClickServices' Mobile Application Server provides on-demand scalability for mission-critical applications, increased reliability, and reduction of development and operational costs.

ClickServices' technology is used by companies such as PurchasePro, (Nasdaq:PPRO) that announced its wireless initiative alliance with the company in September.

"We chose ClickServices' global wireless platform because it has been deployed by customers in the business-to-business, business-to-enterprise and business-to-consumer markets," said Jim Jensen, director of wireless development for PurchasePro. "We think ClickServices' technology provides a flexible, extensible and scalable architecture for our wireless initiative."

PurchasePro is a leading enabler of B2B e-commerce for companies of all sizes and uses ClickServices' wireless infrastructure to allow its members to conduct e-commerce functions using Web-enabled phones, PDAs (personal digital assistants) and pocket PCs. With ClickServices' Mobile Application Server, interactions between applications, users and businesses can take place in both Web and wireless environments. ClickServices' Mobile Application Server intelligently extends the reach of applications and information. This enables businesses to link employees and customers, as well as suppliers and partners, in wired and wireless dynamic e-business environments.

"The Mobile Application Server will accelerate adoption of ClickServices' platform as the global wireless infrastructure standard, providing time-to-market advantages to millions of enterprises, service providers, Web based portals and wireless carriers," said Sundaram Natarajan, president and chief executive officer of ClickServices.

The exclusive Java(TM) programming language and eXtensible Markup Language (XML) architecture of ClickServices' technology provides open, standards-based, back-end integration, enabling new and existing applications to support all wireless networks, devices, protocols and markup languages. Applications on the ClickServices' platform use middleware logic to leverage plug-in messaging capabilities such as mobile-originated and device-to-device communication across carrier networks worldwide.

The ClickServices Mobile Application Server makes available multilingual, advanced wireless communication, messaging, content management, application integration and transactional capabilities to businesses such as those using the iPlanet(TM) Application Server. The iPlanet Application Server is a J2EE(TM) technology compliant application infrastructure that is rated number one by DH Brown Associates for its scalability, reliability and availability. It demonstrates the power of Java technology for large-scale e-business solutions. Users of the iPlanet Application Server 6.0 will be able to purchase a Mobile Application Server Upgrade from ClickServices to install on top of their existing iPlanet Application Server.

"The iPlanet Application Server, a key component of the iPlanet(TM) Internet Service Deployment Platform, helps to enable enterprises, service providers, and dot-com businesses to exploit the enormous opportunities in the Net Economy," said Joe Keller, vice president and general manager of application services for iPlanet(TM) E-Commerce Solutions, a Sun-Netscape Alliance. "The combination of the iPlanet Application Server and platforms such as ClickServices', helps to enable rapid integration with existing applications and provides wireless application developers in multiple markets with an open and scalable suite of wireless Web and e-business solutions."

ClickServices Mobile Application Server will be available in the first quarter of 2001. For more information, please e-mail infoappserver@clickservices.net.
