Versatile Mobile Systems To Demonstrate Innovative Route Accounting Application On Symbol Technologies' Handheld Computer

Technology Developed on Microsoft's Pocket PC Platform Unveiled at International Beverage Trade Show

Versatile Mobile Systems (Canada) Inc. (CDNX: VMS), a leading developer and provider of wireless mobile automation solutions, today gave its first public demonstration of its route accounting application developed for the new Microsoft Windows-powered Pocket PC platform.

The technology is being shown within the Symbol Technologies booth (#3359) at the InterBev 2000 conference today through December 6, 2000 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The route accounting application within Versatile Mobile's V-Series of software products is called "Route Leader". Route Leader allows the mobile worker to sell directly from the truck, perform inventories, look up customer accounts, and more. In combination with Versatile Mobile's M-Series of rugged truck-mount and briefcase line of printers, delivery drivers can sell to their customers using complex price discounting and promotional formulas, while still generating accurate invoices. The Route Leader application will be demonstrated using Symbol Technologies' PPT 2700 pocketable Pocket PC-based computer.

"InterBev is the perfect forum for Versatile Mobile Systems to launch Route Leader on the Pocket PC platform, as beverage industry leaders have been anticipating robust and proven applications applied to the Pocket PC," said Larry Oliver, Versatile Mobile Systems' President. "Route Leader's detailed design is based on years of route delivery expertise earned through the deployment of these applications with customers such as Darigold, Alta Dena and Rug Doctor. We applied our ISO 9001-approved methodologies, proven at customers such as Cadbury Schweppes, to our software development efforts that resulted in today's Pocket PC product, which significantly lowers the technology cost per mobile worker."

"Versatile Mobile Systems has had a strong relationship with Symbol Technologies for many years, and our technology has been featured on their handheld units in diverse applications," added Mr. Oliver. "We anticipate that the Versatile/Symbol combination will continue to be in great demand."
