CYNET Partners With Compaq and Houston Cellular to Deliver Wireless Solution for the Compaq Houston Marathon 2001

Technology Enables Spectators to Track Progress of Runners

CYNET, Inc. (OTCBB: CYNE), a leading provider of convergent messaging technology to business customers, will be providing the wireless solution that will enable select spectators to access the Internet for real-time information on registered runners throughout the Compaq Houston Marathon 2001 on Sunday, January 14th, using the Compaq (NYSE: CPQ) iPAQ PocketPC.

As one of the newest additions to its ConvergentWare product line, the CYNET CYPAQ expands the capabilities of the iPAQ to serve as a cell phone, transmit and receive e-mails and faxes, while also providing access to the Internet. The CYNET bundled solution includes the CYPAQ expansion pack, CYNET's wireless Cell Phone/Modem, CYNET Dialer and CYNET Convergent Messaging software and services.

"The services we are providing at the Marathon represent our commitment to continuously develop, expand and deliver innovative convergent messaging solutions to our partners such as Compaq and Houston Cellular," said Vincent Beale, Chairman/CEO of CYNET. "As a leader in the Convergent Communications market, we look forward to providing a wireless connection that helps Compaq and Houston Cellular bring the race one step closer to the spectator."

CYNET's CYPAQ features include a V.34 wireless modem with transfer rates of up to 21,600 bps. Its Type III PCMCIA Interface is less than 7/8" thick, offering coverage virtually anywhere in the United States.

"As the official wireless sponsor of the Compaq Houston Marathon and the title sponsor of the companion 5K fun-run, Houston Cellular is always seeking new ways to make marathon weekend come alive for its spectators," said Jamie Buckstaff, vice president of marketing of Houston Cellular. "And, the iPAQ does just that, by giving running fans the opportunity to track the progress of their friends and family participating in the marathon, and Houston Cellular is thrilled to bring this service to our race spectators."

This year, Houston Cellular will be providing free wireless services for the iPAQ and wireless communication needs for the entire marathon weekend. The 5K, a marathon companion since 1995 has boasted as many as 1,800 participants while raising significant money for local charities.
