PalmPoint Signs Agreement with Coca-Cola Israel

PalmPoint, a division of Retalix Ltd. (Nasdaq:RTLX), the company formerly known as Point of Sale Ltd., today announced that it has been selected by The Central Bottling Company Ltd. (Coca-Cola Israel), to implement the PalmOrder software system across the entire Coca-Cola Israel sales distribution network.

The Central Bottling Company Ltd. is the exclusive Israeli bottler for Coca-Cola.

The PalmPoint portable software solution, PalmOrder, enables operatives to accept customer orders by means of a simple hand-held cellular communications device that transmits instantaneous data to a central computer located at headquarters. The applications function on a standard Windows CE operating platform. The system will permit Coca-Cola field representatives to maintain constant real-time communications with the sales force at headquarters. This ability to update incoming data in real time should provide Coca-Cola cost and time saving benefits, promote efficiency and help to eliminate misuse and wastage.

Coca-Cola selected PalmPoint after completion of a pilot program in July 2000 that resulted in a decision to replace existing hand-held terminals. A hundred and fifty field representatives will be using PalmPoint's software. Installation of the software will commence in March 2001 with a completion date of end-of-year 2001.

Israel Pateshnik, Coca-Cola Israel's IT Manager said, "We selected PalmPoint's solution in order to improve our competitive abilities. After testing several products, we believe that PalmOrder will not only enhance field representative efficiency, but also improve information transfer from Headquarters to field representatives and vice versa."

Moti Lipman, PalmPoint CEO said, "The fact that Coca-Cola Israel selected PalmPoint to upgrade its portable hand-held terminals used by field representatives is a major breakthrough in the ongoing development of the PalmOrder solution. The success of PalmOrder is proof of the product's superiority among large suppliers in Israel. An important factor in this success originates from the fact that PalmOrder is an off-the-shelf product, as opposed to other solutions that are based on a project-by-project basis. In addition, we have adapted a parallel version of the product for small and medium-sized retailers that provides store managers with portable computerized management services."
