Sierra Wireless Teams with GoAmerica to Wirelessly Enable the Sony Electronics CLIE

Complete Customer Solution to Use the Palm Operating System

Sierra Wireless (NASDAQ:SWIR) (TSE:SW.) announced today it has teamed with GoAmerica Inc. (NASDAQ: GOAM) in an exclusive agreement to deliver the Sierra Wireless AirBoard(TM) for CLIE(TM), a wireless adapter designed for use with the Sony CLIE handheld.

Sierra Wireless will provide AirBoards and AirCards for Cellular Digital Packet Data (CDPD) networks and the Ricochet 128 kbps network, designed specifically for the Sony CLIE handheld. Commercial delivery of the Sierra Wireless AirBoard and accompanying AirCards are expected to commence in the second quarter of 2001.

Sierra Wireless is developing the AirBoard to support both CDPD and Ricochet versions of the Sierra Wireless AirCard family, offering mobile users unparalleled flexibility in their choice of networks for a PDA. This design also permits Sony CLIE handheld users to use the same AirCard in their laptops, offering fast, reliable access to their networked communication needs anywhere, anytime. The Sierra Wireless AirBoard for CLIE is supported by a suite of modem utilities that complement the Sony CLIE handheld's existing service offerings including, exclusive digital imaging features and standard personal organizer functions that come with its easy-to-use Palm operating system.
