Toshiba of Canada Joins WirelessReady Alliance; Rapidly Growing Consortium Reaches 40 Members

Sierra Wireless (Nasdaq:SWIR)(TSE:SW.) and Toshiba of Canada, Information Systems Group (ISG), today announced that Toshiba is the newest member of the WirelessReady(TM) Alliance (WRA).

As a leader in mobile computing, and as a member of the Alliance, Toshiba of Canada is at the forefront of bringing wireless connectivity to notebook computers and to creating wireless solutions for their business customers.

"We are extremely pleased to welcome Toshiba as the fortieth member of the WirelessReady Alliance," said Andrew Harries, senior vice president, corporate development for Sierra Wireless. "As an industry innovator, Toshiba adds a great deal of value to the Alliance and we plan to work with them to create complete and compelling solutions around Sierra Wireless' award-winning line of AirCard(R) modems."

The alliance is composed of hardware manufacturers, software application vendors, wireless telephony companies and value-added enterprise service providers. All members of the WRA bring part of an end-to-end wireless data solution. The WRA works with the individual members to bring to market complete and compelling wireless data solutions. The mission of the Alliance is to increase the rate of adoption of mobile computing. The rapidly growing alliance has almost doubled in size in the past year.

"By joining the WirelessReady Alliance, Toshiba of Canada further leverages its aggressive research and development in the area of wireless connectivity," said Steve Murray, Vice President and General Manager of Toshiba of Canada, ISG. "Wireless notebook computers will allow our users to increase their productivity - no matter where their work takes them."
