BroadCloud Acquires LapLink's Exchange Accelerator Technology

SURE connect Platform Now Provides Reliable and Fast Wireless e-Mail Transfer Via Microsoft Exchange and Outlook

BroadCloud Communications Inc., a leading provider of wireless data solutions, today announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire LapLink's Exchange Accelerator(TM) technology for integration within its SURE connect platform.

Exchange Accelerator is LapLink's popular e-mail acceleration software that utilizes highly efficient methods of data transfer to speed e-mail exchange via Microsoft Exchange(R) and Outlook over remote network connections.

BroadCloud is wrapping up efforts to integrate Exchange Accelerator into SURE connect, the company's flagship product that delivers a complete wireless Internet experience today that is up to five times as reliable and 10 times faster than existing wireless connections utilizing 75 percent less bandwidth.

Because it's based on BroadCloud's patented Wireless Internet Protocol, SURE connect allows mobile workforces to efficiently send and receive e-mail with large attachments, remotely use corporate applications and access graphics-rich, data-intensive content from the Internet via laptops and other mobile devices.

Now, with the integration of Exchange Accelerator, SURE connect will deliver the same unprecedented reliability and speed to corporate mobile workforces and individuals that rely on Microsoft Exchange and Outlook for wireless e-mail exchange.

"Support for the complete line of Microsoft products and especially Exchange and Outlook is critical for the vast majority of mobile business professionals," says Ed Acosta, CEO and president of BroadCloud. "The acquisition of Exchange Accelerator brings immediate and dramatic enhancements that will ensure the success of SURE connect as an enterprise class offering by enhancing productivity, cutting costs and providing a competitive advantage for enterprise wireless initiatives."

Support and Availability

SURE connect with new support for Microsoft Exchange and Outlook will be available April 1 for laptop computers with service from any wireless packet data network including existing networks such as CDPD (Cellular Digital Packet Data) and circuit-switched iDEN(R), GSM, CDMA and TDMA networks, as well as future networks like GPRS (General Packet Radio Service), W-CDMA and other PCS data services. SURE connect currently supports Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator, as well as a wide variety of wireless applications including Microsoft Exchange, Outlook, Outlook Express, plus Eudora, and other corporate applications.
