Celvibe Unveils World's First Television Streamer to Provide Live TV Broadcasts to Wireless Devices

Company Establishes North American Headquarters In California

Celvibe Ltd. today unveiled the world's first live television streamer -- CelFeed(TM) --that enables wireless carriers to transmit live television broadcasts directly to wireless devices.

The announcement was made here at the CTIA Global Wireless Show (Booth #8336).

Celvibe Ltd. has also established its North American headquarters, Celvibe Inc., in Redwood City, California to expand the company's sales and marketing efforts and to service the North American market.

CelFeed, a dedicated platform for wireless carriers, delivers streamed multi-channel high-quality video and audio over 2.5G and 3G networks to wireless devices with low bit rate cellular connections -such as Smart Phones, laptops, PDAs and other handheld devices. With CelFeed, wireless carriers can transform networks into rich-content delivery networks for television broadcasters or any syndicated multi-media video service provider (VSP). Wireless device users can access multiple video channels easily without a PC or Internet connection.

"Anyone can broadcast video clips, but no one is streaming live TV or broadcast-quality video in real time over wireless networks," said Oded Peretz, CEO, Celvibe Ltd. "Currently, broadcast television technology, which uses MPEG-2, requires large amounts of bandwidth, making it virtually impossible for transmission over wireless networks. We developed an advanced technology that converts current MPEG formats to fit mobile devices."

How CelFeed Works

Through a patent-pending MPEG-4 transcoder, CelFeed receives MPEG-1, MPEG-2 and other formats that are converted in real-time to MPEG-4, which can easily be processed by mobile devices. The streaming rich media content is compressed and delivered to mobile devices immediately. CelFeed allows wireless carriers to give concurrent subscribers multiple, live broadcast-quality video channels.

In order to achieve broadcast-quality video on mobile devices, wireless carriers need to keep up a continuous flow of quality data to each mobile device. However, since mobile devices experience various bandwidths -- bit rates and bit error rates (BER) -- the streamed content must be adapted to the specific parameters of each device.

CelFeed has the unique ability to gauge the mobile device's reception quality and determine compression parameters, providing carriers with an extremely convenient and cost-effective solution for all streaming needs. Each stream is customized based on the available bit rate and BER of each specific mobile device. The frames are adjusted to enhance the rich content quality of the object in the frame, producing broadcast-quality video on a wireless device. This provides carriers with an extremely convenient and cost-effective solution for streaming richer broadcast media.
