Comit Systems Offers Downloadable HDL Language References On Handheld Devices

Comit Systems, Inc. of Santa Clara, Calif. has started offering electronic versions of its Hardware Description Language (HDL) Quick Reference Cards on several handheld devices running the Palm OS(R) and the Microsoft Windows(R) CE operating systems.

The Comit Quick Reference Cards (QRCs) are available for free download at the company's website.

For Palm OS based devices, the Comit QRCs can be read using the free MobiPocket Reader for Palm OS from Mobipocket.com. For Win-CE and Pocket-PC, the Comit QRCs use the e-book format and can be read by both MobiPocket Reader and Microsoft Reader.

The printed version of Comit QRCs are popular among designers of Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs), and have been distributed in tens of thousands since 1998. The electronic version for handhelds is a significant new medium for this popular hi-tech Reference, and was created using MobiPocket Publisher from Mobipocket.com.

"We are pleased to offer the Comit QRCs on handheld devices," said Niladri Roy, Comit's director of Marketing. "With the growing popularity of handhelds, we believe that the electronic versions of the Comit QRCs will benefit more engineers involved in ASIC design. We have seen significant download activity on the first day of release, and some popular EDA websites already carry a link to our free-download page."

Nathalie Ting, chief technical officer of Mobipocket.com, said, "We are very happy that Comit Systems has chosen Mobipocket as their reading technology solution for the electronic version on Palm OS and Win-CE/Pocket-PC of their popular HDL Quick Reference Cards. We believe that the MobiPocket Reader is at its best when applied to high value-added content like Comit's QRCs for handheld devices."
