Comverse Announces Mobile Call Manager --Enhanced Flexibility For Users Of Mobile Internet Services

Comverse (NASDAQ: CMVT), the world's leading supplier of software and systems enabling network-based multimedia enhanced communications services, today announced its mobile Internet call management solution, Mobile Call Manager (MCM). This first-of-its kind, intelligent call management solution gives mobile subscribers the ability to filter, block, accept, forward or reply to calls in a personalized manner.

As the mobile phone evolves into a hybrid communications, information, computing and gaming device, mobile subscribers require a more sophisticated means of managing voice calls. Currently, mobile Internet subscribers face limitations in trying to manage voice calls while they are online. Incoming calls are typically blocked and forwarded to voicemail, causing the user to miss potentially important calls. In cases where the network is able to pass incoming calls through, they can be viewed as disruptive to subscribers accessing Internet services. Incoming calls may also corrupt secure online transactions.

Comverse's MCM addresses these limitations by enabling enhanced subscriber control over voice calls. Intelligent call notifications allow the subscriber to prioritize and handle calls in real-time, or subscribers can self-provision MCM to block, filter, forward or otherwise handle calls. More specifically, subscribers can opt for no call notification during a particular browser session and have calls go to voicemail, forward to a default number, or provide a pre-recorded reply such as "please try me again in 15 minutes." Another option for the subscriber is to simply skip or ignore a WAP notification so a secure transaction can continue uninterrupted.

"As telecommunications and the Internet rapidly converge, mobile phones are assuming the capabilities of a PC or PDA. If mobile subscribers can more effectively manage traditional calls, they may spend more time logged onto the Internet via the mobile phone," said Zeev Bregman, Chief Executive Officer of Comverse. "We are pleased to be the first to offer network providers this exciting new solution, which will in turn provide an improved user experience to their subscribers."

Comverse is demonstrating MCM at this year's CTIA Wireless trade show in Las Vegas, Nevada, March 20 - 22, 2001. Comverse will be located in booth #855 at the Sands Expo and Convention Center.
