FunMail Announces New WAP Version of FunMail's Animated Messaging System

FunMail Lets You Use Your WAP Phone to Send Animated Messages

FunMail Inc. today announced the beta launch of a new wireless version of FunMail's animated messaging system for WAP phones at the CTIA Show in Las Vegas. The WAP version of FunMail allows subscribers to the WAP version to send animated messages over-the-air from one WAP phone to another, and also to other wireless and desktop devices.

"Many of the people in the wireless industry have been pleasantly surprised about FunMail's new WAP version," said FunMail CEO, Adam Lavine. "One executive I talked to said it was impossible to animate on a WAP phone. But here we are doing the impossible!"

Using FunMail's patent-pending text-to-animation technology, the user types in a short email message on a WAP phone which is analyzed and converted into a relevant animation that is sent to the recipient -- another WAP user, PDA user or desktop user. Under normal traffic conditions, the entire process required only a few seconds. The WAP version can also recognize "shorthands" that can be stored by the user as preferences for future use to minimize what can be time-consuming text entry.

"WAP FunMail is the perfect messaging product for the coming 2G-to-3G transition in wireless systems," said Lavine. "Our WAP version delivers a compelling multimedia experience using 2G technology that is based on current technology but the experience easily scales as the network and handsets upgrade to 2.5G and ultimately to 3G.

The FunMail engine scales the animation for the destination device depending on the device's display and sound capabilities. FunMails can be sent phone-to-phone, or computer-to-phone. The FunMail media engine can render animation in a variety of formats, from black and white to rich color, supporting WAP, SMS and i-mode capable phones, as well as PDA and desktop platforms.
