iMedeon Extends Its Wireless, Web-Based Mobile Workforce Management Applications to Rural Utilities Through Use of 220 MHz Private Network

Cost-effective network gives rural utilities access to wireless, Web-based mobile workforce management applications for the first time

iMedeon, the premier provider of wireless, Web applications for mobile workforce management, announced today that rural utilities located in areas lacking ubiquitous wireless coverage can now benefit from iMedeon's mobile workforce management applications through the use of 220 MHz private networks.

iMedeon is currently the only mobile workforce management software provider to extend its applications to rural utilities via 220 MHz private networks.

"For the first time, rural utilities can reap the benefits of mobile workforce management applications, such as instant wireless communication to and from the field, which before were only available to larger utilities located in areas where wireless coverage is universally available," said Joe Mediate, iMedeon's CEO. "Since the 220 MHz network is cost-effective to deploy and maintain, the start-up costs for rural utilities to now deploy mobile workforce management applications are minimal, there is a lower total cost of ownership, and they realize a more rapid return on investment."

iMedeon is weeks away from launching the first utility customer to operate iM:Work, its wireless, Web-based mobile workforce management application suite, over a 220 MHz private network. Mediate continued, "Over the past several months, we have seen a dramatic increase in interest by rural utilities in the combination of our product, the private network, and our subscription-based business model. iMedeon is uniquely positioned to capitalize on this growing niche market, and we intend to aggressively meet this demand while simultaneously executing upon our strategy of garnering additional customers in the mid-to-large utility and field service space."

iM:Work, iMedeon's flagship product, is the wireless, Web-based mobile workforce management application suite that will operate over the 220 MHz private network. iM:Work provides a comprehensive view of where work crews are located, the work being performed, what tools, parts and support are needed, what work is on the horizon, and how the crews can be more efficient. iM:Work allows for complete analysis and optimization of a company's field service chain, allowing for better communication of real-time information. Since iMedeon's software suite is Web-based, the software can easily adapt to new technology initiatives, allowing for rapid iM:Work implementation and upgrades.

iMedeon is demonstrating its iM:Work software suite March 9-12, 2001, in St. Louis, at TechAdvantage 2001(R), a conference designed to help cooperatives master the challenges of the electric utility industry.
