Kipling and Axis Communications Demonstrate Combined GSM/ Bluetoothtm Positioning at CeBIT 2001

Kipling Holding AB (SSE:KIPL), a leading provider of mobile Internet products and services, will demonstrate combined GSM/Bluetooth network-based positioning during the CeBIT Trade Fair, together with its partner Axis Communications.

The demonstration will show the strength of having a positioning platform that can combine global (GSM) and local (Bluetooth) perspectives in a mobile network.

"This is a good example of how we can work together with important partners in order to quickly present new technologies to the market," says Gustaf Ekberg, CEO of Kipling Holding AB. "Kipling's and Axis' mobile access solutions enable new and exciting posititioning services, thanks to the combination of global and local perspectives," concluded Ekberg.

Kipling entered a partnership in February with Axis Communications, who provide products for network connectivity and related services. The mutual business relation concerns a joint investment within local mobile networks. The intention of the parties is to accelerate the development of combined GSM and Bluetooth positioning solutions that will add value to location-based services. Axis has developed products that enable the creation of "hot spots" for wireless communication in public places, such as airports, hotels, shopping malls and conference centers. Together, they form a system solution that together with Kipling's positioning platform will soon be able to determine the location of any ordinary cellular phone.
