MapInfo Extends Enterprise to Mobile Workforce with MapXtend 2.0

MapInfo Corporation (Nasdaq:MAPS) today announced MapInfo(R) MapXtend(TM) Version 2.0, the premier developer tool kit for creating location-based applications for all types of mobile devices. MapXtend enables organizations to bring their Web-based applications to the mobile Internet. It allows for real-time access to centralized data and provides users with the ability to view, query, edit and collect data while in the field improving overall efficiency and productivity. Mobile workers in sales, retail, real estate and utilities can now be connected to their departments inside the corporate walls, linking in real-time to the latest information in the field. MapInfo is demonstrating MapXtend technology at CTIA (Booth #1271).

Features and Benefits:

MapXtend provides a secure framework for creating applications for wireless handheld devices, such as Palm and Windows CE PDAs and Java and WAP-based mobile phones. MapXtend provides an API based on Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition (J2ME)(TM), which allows developers to create smart applications with feature-rich user interfaces and enables the user to access data while disconnected or off-line.

Availability

MapInfo MapXtend 2.0 will be available in April 2001 and pricing is based on deployment options.
