Metrocall Introduces Canamex Wireless Services At Manufacturing Week 2001

Innovative In-House Custom Applications Will Expedite Messaging Functions

Metrocall, Inc. (NASDAQ:MCLLC), a leading provider of office and campus-based wireless services, today announced that its Systems Applications Division will offer campus-based wireless solutions developed by Canamex Communications, of Markham, Ontario, Canada.

Metrocall will introduce Canamex products and services today at the Manufacturing Week 2001 trade show in Chicago, IL, where more than 50,000 professionals are gathering to review the latest products and services supporting all functions of the manufacturing process. The Metrocall Systems Applications Division can be found at booth no. 4648 in the National Industrial Automation area of the exposition at the McCormick Place complex.

Canamex introduced the QUIKTEL(TM) intra-office two-way communications system in 1989 and has progressively upgraded the successful line of products and services into the new century. The latest wireless data and information technologies can be integrated into QUIKTEL equipment, making it a strong partner for Metrocall's Systems Applications Division, which develops custom solutions for businesses, manufacturers, universities and healthcare organizations.

QUIKTEL Wireless is designed to deliver alarm messages and includes a unique text-to-voice functionality that broadcasts a canned message to mobile radios and telephones. Text messages, that include sender information and approximate transmittal location, can also be transmitted to large groups of end-users with two-way wireless devices.

"This relationship with Canamex is indicative of Metrocall's strategic direction that incorporates our nationwide networking and IT capabilities into a broad portfolio of on-premises wireless products and services," according to Nancy Green, Metrocall Systems Applications Division vice president. "Canamex is an innovative company that has developed solutions to onsite wireless communication demands that we believe prospective Metrocall customers will appreciate as they assess alternatives for their operational needs."

Metrocall's line of Integrated Resource Management (IRM) systems have recently been installed to enhance communications in several medical campuses, including Texas' Memorial Hermann Health Center, and at large campus-based businesses such as a North Carolina-based BMW parts manufacturing facility and Las Vegas' Suncoast hotel and casino. With onsite administration and locally installed transmitters, the product offers real-time transmission and monitoring to large workforces. Metrocall will combine many of its current systems capabilities with Canamex's innovative products. For example the QUICKTEL server complements the Systems Applications Division's current product line of centrally administered products and services.

"Canamex sees great value in partnering with Metrocall and together addressing the communications needs of companies and organizations in the United States," said Jorge Fernandez, president of Canamex. "For more than a decade we have updated our wireless products and services to keep pace with the latest technologies available so that our customers could benefit from the improved efficiencies. Metrocall has successfully identified a market ideally suited to our line of products and services."
