NextBus to Announce New Wireless Service for Public Transit Passengers At CTIA Wireless 2001

NextBus Information Systems, Inc. provides real-time arrival information to both passengers and managers of public transit. GPS receivers are installed on transit vehicles, and this tracking information is used to calculate when a vehicle will arrive at a particular stop. NextBus transmits arrival time predictions -- not schedules -- to the stop and on the wired and wireless web. NextBus was the first company to serve passenger-focused information to the Internet. A quick check of www.nextbus.com will provide extensive arrival times for a large number of transit stops.

NextBus CEO Jim Maresca will announce the new application, available to NextBus users both wired and wirelessly. The new technology will make NextBus information even more convenient for passengers of public transit.
